From what I've read online you apply both formulas at the same time. Spray in Elixir amd layer w/conditioner for best results.

Q: does this work good on really short hair?

Id like to say yes, but it is not doing as good of a job on my shoulder length hair as it first did. I find that very strange but I am finding that I have to really increase the amount. I'm going to switch to pure castor oil (you onlly use a tiny bit of that or else you end up greasy) and see how that goes. The Magic Myst seems to have lost some of it's properties. I'm not a chemist so I can't test it. At this point it seems I have to use a lot more than I did when it was new. Hair same length. So it is actually making my hair dryer?

I use it on dry and wet hair. I spray a couple times at the ends of my hair after I dry it to prevent my hair from getting tangled and it works like a charm!
