I suffer from really bad allergies . I’ve been taking Benadryl for many years. It can make you sleepy. Don’t drive after taking it.There’s also a cream that you can use on your skin. The pill works faster. Hope this helps.

Benadryl makes an itch stopping gel, an extra strength topical analgesic--for skin use only--using diphenhydramine Cl. This product, Benadryl Allergy Liqui-Gels, are for internal usage, which alleges use for "itchy, watery eyes" and "itchy throat". The Benadryl Gel, the topical itch stopper, is diphenhydramine not formulated for ingestion and warns about calling a Poison Control Center if swallowed. Respective packaging is informative about proper uses. HTH
