Not really. The way it's designed it can't hold water though it may be possible but tricky to cast cement into it.

You're supposed to soften the soil first, aerating hard compacted soil doesn't work. Best used when it has rained or after watering, then it is a breeze.

Q: can anyone confirm the diameter of the handle shaft please? I'm thinking this with some freeweights added will give it better weight

I bought this a while ago and although reasonably priced it's not fit for purpose. the metal cross bar that holds the plastic wheels with the spikes collapses into the spikes after a time in use. In the end I had to make a reinforcement bar to attach to the existing metal to stop this happening. It turned out to be a successful result. In retrospect I should have sent it back. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Look for something stronger. The diameter is about 5 inches but I wouldn't bother.
