Both ends are very slightly convex and it is a fooling pin so geometrically it's a regular cylinder shape but the wood is ideal for this function. Hope that helps.

Q: Notice this is sold as waxed, what type of wax and how do you maintain it if it has been waxed as washing will surely deplete the waxing.

I am unsure but can say that I just wipe it over with a damp cloth and it's fine. It's a good quality product too.
