Fjallraven - Kanken Laptop 15" Backpack for Everyday

This bag is great. Light as air when empty, it is also deceptively light when full. I am a college student, 5' 2", 115 lbs., and I can easily carry this backpack with three inch-thick textbooks, two inch-thick notebooks, a planner, and pencil case in the center compartment with room to spare. There are also two other compartments, one behind and the smaller front zippered pouch in front that I haven't used yet. The rear zippered pocket could easily fit another textbook or a 13-inch laptop. My school stuff actually feels lighter when held in this bag.A few years ago, I fell down a flight of stairs and hurt my cervical spine and neck, and I've had some discomfort off and on with regular purses and backpacks. Not this one. The bag sits directly on the mid and upper-back, so weight is not pressing against the delicate lower-back, upper-butt area. The straps are positioned to rest inward on the high torso, rather than on the edges of one's shoulders or against a petite woman's hips as adult backpacks sold in the U.S. usually do. It doesn't pull the shoulders back and the head forward and create that uncomfortable anterior tilt with the lower body that regular backpacks do. I could go on about the brilliance of the thin straps too. They are comfortable for the front of a female's body and don't mash the girls.I won't be bothering with regular purses anymore. I wish I had found this years ago.

I ordered mine from Fashionomics (who were fulfilled by prime) and it seems legit. I put the backpack through all of the counterfeit tests: checking that it has ykk zippers, is waterproof (wouldn't dunk it in a lake, but it held up when water spilled on it), has wasa6 under the snaps, the logo is reflective, material is sturdy, the tags were correct, the material is Polyvinyl Alcohol and the stitchings were good quality. However, it was missing the little Swedish flag on the inside, but I've heard some reviews on other sites that fjallraven only recently added it. I have a mini kanken and it has the flag on the inside. As you can see, this does not, so it might be an older bag.There were a few small spots where color seemed faded, thus the 4 star review. I know the dye can fade, but I would expect that from a product used over months, not something brand new. There were also some purple fluffballs on it when I pulled out the packaging, but I didnt locate any fraying on the bag.Purchased this to haul my laptop and sketching supplies, as well as for some hiking this spring. I like it, but I have yet to test it with everyday use. I love the purple color and it's very comfortable.

I'm in nursing school and some of the books we carry are so large and heavy they could easily be used as weapons. My back was literally aching at the end of the day while using my usual Jansport. I did quite a bit of research on the Fjallravens and liked that they were designed to help with back pain by changing the way you carry the load. The backpack sits higher on the back, so the load is on your upper back and shoulders instead of hanging off your lower back. It makes it easier to carry and feels dramatically lighter. I had no issues with the bag I received, it was brand new, and I checked and made sure it was genuine, which it was. I was worried that it would be childish looking since I am an older student, but I got compliments on it, so I guess it looks ok! I will never buy a Jansport again.Also, another student accidentally spilled coffee all over my bag, I wiped it down and you can't even tell. I would stick with the dark colors in case of any accidents.

Coming back after a year+ owning this bag. I love it. The lighter color definitely shows some wear, but overall it has held up well. It's spacious without being overly large and still looking relatively sleek. The laptop pocket is great - I use it for my 13" macbook and there's plenty of space in there.What really made me come back to write this review is that today I managed to spill an immense amount of coffee from a leaking travel cup in one of the side pockets and everything inside the bag, including my laptop, papers and a book, is totally fine! In fact, when i realized it was leaking and went to try to clean it with a napkin there was a puddle of coffee inside the pocket haha. So the "water resistant" coating is definitely holding up very well and totally saved my ass today since the worst part was cleaning up all the coffee and not having to replace a $2,000 computer!

I purchased this for my freshman year of college, to carry around my laptop which is a 13" macbook pro and some books. It has been a year now and I still love it. It is real and it is not fake. It is very sturdy, I have not experienced any ripping or of that sort. It does get dirty or the color fades but all Kanken backpacks do that, and it just means you need to clean them. The bags should not be washed in a washing machine, but can easily hand wash them and if need help with that go to Youtube. Overall I recommend this bag to anyone who needs to carry a lot and still wants to appear cute because thats what the bag did for me. I still use it and I feel like this bag can last very long time. Perfect Price for a very expensive bag and good quality.

The Kaken is a really nice bag if you dont plan on putting a lot of stuff in it. I bought this bag for college, and honestly I regret buying it. It gets really dirty easily. Out of nowhere there would always be these small patches of gray stains all over the bag. Upon further examination, it was dust. Many reviews have stated that this bag is sturdy and has excellent straps, however from my last 2 weeks of using this bag, my shoulders and arms hurt. The straps on the bag do not provide support very well. I honestly want to throw this bag away, but I already invested in it so I'll use it this year. But I am never going to buy their product again
