Q: Does the fan have a timer (to shut off after a certain number of hours)?

Dear Customer. Yes, it has a 1-12 hours Timer.

Q: If you just use the power on/off button will the fan come on with the settings last used? Need it to be simple for 93 year old.

Yes it will turn on to the last setting. I didn't really pay attention before but I've tested it and it does turn to the setting you had before unless it's turned off at the wall then it resets from what I can tell. But if you turn it off using the power button on the remote its all good.

Q: How to clean this fan from the inside and the surface?

I haven’t had to do this yet but the instructions brochure says “to use only a soft dry cloth to wipe the outer surfaces. To clean between the grills and fan blade area, we recommend using a pipe cleaner, flexible dust wand, vacuum cleaner or compressed air to gently remove dust. To clean the rear grill use a soft dry cloth. DO NOT immerse the fan in water and never allow water to drip into the motor housing.” Hope that is helpful.
