ColorTone Concentrated Liquid Stain for Stringed Instruments, Red Mahogany

I decided to refinish a 50 year old rifle that my mother gifted to my father in the 60's. It is to be a family heirloom piece for my grandchildren. This mahogany color was perfect for my application. I'm very happy with the results.

Stained a really bright rosewood fretboard and it looks great. After a week of drying, there has been some rub off onto the fingers. I'm thinking that may dissipate over time, we'll see. Might just need more time for a final opinion. So far, so good.

Great color. Easy to mix and apply. Making this ukulele for the granddaughter in her favorite color. I like the color so much that I am going to stain an electric guitar for myself with it.

Good dye, but small quantity. Mohawk NGR is a better value. Using it for guitars may be okay, but anything needing larger quantities is limited.

Stewmac has the best quality products. This stain works great, even for a first time user. The colors are bright and vibrant. You can buy cheaper but you get what you pay for in most cases

This is supposed to be a concentrate and could make up to 2 quarts for a normal stain application. I wanted a darker tone so I mixed the entire container with only 4 Oz of StewMac solvent and it was still pretty faint. Thinking of an alternative now.

It definitely gives the wood an aged appearance. It may look better on lighter wood, but I find it acceptable on okoume. I did a pore fill with finishing resin, and used vinyl sealer before adding the stain.
