My New Favorite
It must be said first that I go through a LOT of mice. It's my work. This is just the latest in a very long line of them. The color is Ruby, but not pink. It's most definitely red. Not a problem because it is still in the color value that I wanted. It works with the exacting quality that I demand from my mouse. Never a hickup.I absolutely HATE any product that has the rubberized grips. They don't make the tool more comfortable, but the DO attract every bit of dust, dirt and pet hair in a room. Unfortunately, I can't find what I need without the rubber. Microsoft made it a bit different this time, though, by adding a diamond pattern to the rubber. So, it doesn't feel grungy at all, and I'm using it outside! The thumb button is a must for me and the scroll function is smooth and flawless. It's a mouse. If you want something that is top of the line on a budget, this is it!

It's a Good, Basic Mouse
It does everything a mouse should do and it doesn't cost a fortune. I have used Microsoft mice for years. I like the feel and performance. And I like the price too.

Good mouse
Let me get the most irritating thing out of the way now - this mouse is not ruby pink. I ordered the ruby pink and received a red mouse. The package indicates it's red, it looks red, so it is red. Now that isn't a big deal - in fact my husband preferred the red and it matches my laptop BUT I did order pink, not red.Other than that the mouse itself is fine. It is a bit high on the arch for the palm for me but I have very small hands. My husband has not had any complaints about it. It has a much higher profile than my old Microsoft mouse that was about 4 years old. If you have smaller hands you might want to take into consideration that you might have a bit of trouble adapting to the high profile, but other than that it worked right out of the box before I installed the software on Window's 7. The mouse wheel is very quick and will take some time adjusting too (or I will just have to slow it down). Overall a good product! I will update if it breaks or anything!

Great Little Mouse!
This is the third Microsoft Mobile Mouse that I've ordered and I love the fact that Microsoft has made the transceiver so small. I can leave it on my laptop without having to remove it when I'm done using my computer. The old style stuck out 2 inches or so and I was always worried that something would fall on it and break it off. The mouse is just the right size and works on any surface. Highly recommend this mouse!

First time replacing the same mouse for my wife
My wife has had several mice over the years, but this has been her favorite (by far). She says it tracks beautifully and is complete accurate. She mostly uses it on furniture and has no problems. After having this mouse for a few years, the USB dongle fried up (it literally became too hot to hold and the computer would no longer recognize it). While that was disappointing, we both felt it had lived a good long life and was worth the original cost. She wanted exactly the same model and I was surprised to find they were still available. The only complaint she has is superficial....the color she really wanted was much more than the "ruby pink" version. While she likes the color fine, she would have preferred a blue that matched her previous mouse. Still, for the reasonable cost of this one, she's thrilled to have her "old mouse" back.

Poor Ergonomics Unlike the 3000 Series
I got this mouse instead of a 3000 series because of the extra button on the side, but wish I had not bothered.First, what I like about it: the color and the Blue Tracking technology, but those can be had with almost any other model. What I don't like:1. POOR ERGONOMICS: It is bigger than the 3000 making it heavier, "humpier" (it's taller and longer than the 3000 series), and therefore harder to comfortably use unless you happen to have large hands, in which case you might not mind. The depressions for the index finger are also very shallow (barely there at all) compared to ergonomic mice like the 3000 series, which means your index finger does not fall down into a natural resting position, but is kept up higher where there is more strain created on the tendons. In other words, it isn't comfortable imo.2. SCROLL BUTTON REQUIRES ENORMOUS PRESSURE TO WORK: The scroll wheel is supposed to be a third button but it takes so much pressure to push it down, I initially thought it did not have a button function there! I pressed several times to no avail, then re-read the specs saying there IS a third button there (and all scroll wheels have that function) and I finally pressed down EXTREMELY HARD and got it to work. The amount of pressure required to make this button work makes it unusable. Not only is it uncomfortable to press that hard, but this particular mouse's scroll wheel does not have ticks but scrolls smoothly without resistance, so pressing down hard on the scroll wheel without scrolling the wheel requires extra care.3. SIDE BUTTON NOT HANDY: The side button is not handy because of how it is placed so high and forward on the mouse, and such a thin sliver. Maybe again for someone with big hands it would fall into a different position, but not for me. I cannot press it without readjusting my entire hand on the mouse to get my thumb there, and even so I have to hold the mouse still while pressing, and this results in pressing one of the main buttons at the same time. This is doubly bad because the scroll wheel button takes enormous pressure, and now the side button which I was going to use in its place is not handy either. I got this mouse for an extra button (4 in all) and ended up with a 2-button mouse! If I'd stuck with the 3000 series I'd have an ergonomic mouse with 3 buttons!4. REQUIRES EXTRA DRIVER: If you want to program a function for the side button, you'll need to download a 24MB mouse driver. Not a big deal if everything else about the mouse was nice.I will be returning this mouse. I got a GE nano-receiver mouse from Target for the same price ($16) and all three of its buttons work fine. It also doesn't have the potential problem of overheating as many users of this model have reported and it's smaller and easier to handle. I wanted the ergonomics of an MS 3000 mouse, but I missed the boat with this 4000 purchase.
