Q: The listing says it’s vertical mount, but the pictures show horizontal display. Can this case be hung both ways?

No. The neck hook that fits under the headstock is pre-mounted. The guitar hangs freely from it. There is no other hardware to allow you to hang it horizontally. It is the real fender case with quality plexiglass. I am very happy with it. Wish it had some lighting but I can add that later.

Q: Can you open it and use the guitar? Or is it only for display?

Yes. It has a hanger in it to hang the guitar and the case opens and closes like a real Fender case. Looks good on the wall and keeps the dust off of it. Only wish it had a light in it. But otherwise I am glad I bought it.

Q: Zipper closure? That's what it says...

No zipper. It’s a hard case, with a plexiglass front. It’s for hanging on the wall to display your guitar.
