I do not like going to gyms and prefer to workout in private ...
I waited a few months to review this machine because I really wanted to have worked out on this before giving my opinion. Initially I really debated on where or not to buy this workout machine. I do not like going to gyms and prefer to workout in private BUT I just don't ever really feel like I get a good workout at home. I'm 5'7" and pretty averagely built so I was not sure if the "small strides" the other reviewers commented on would be a problem. While this machine obviously is not going to be like a regular elliptical and the strides are smaller I still would recommend this machine because: 1. If you push yourself and stay motivated you WILL get a good workout and the sweat will be flowing! 2. The size is just soooo much smaller than a regular elliptical and I can easily stash this in my closet when I'm not using it. 3. Helps with balance. (FYI I had no problem jumping on this machine without any type of support (chair/table) and if anything this has helped me with my balance). 4.Pretty quiet - I just prefer working out in the evenings, this machine is pretty quiet so I don't disturb anyone. 5. The arm cords have finally motivated me to start working out my arms. I have always had a skinny but weak upper body and could never to pushups etc so I just started slow with the arm cords (ohhh the burn) and I can really tell a huge difference in my arm strength. I usually workout on the machine for 25-30min and I am REALLY tired and sweaty at the end. I feel like I get a really good workout and because it is so convenient I am staying consistent with working out 2-3times a week (pretty good for my very inconsistent maybe once in the while workouts I was doing before). PS: This machine is VERY VERY easy to put together. Took me maybe 5 min so don't worry about that part.

Perfect compact strider
I have used the Stamina InMotion compact strider for years. I had the previous model and after 5 years of daily striding with my 10,000 steps to "nowhere" I finally wore out the ball bearings. So I purchased this new one with the handle and the cords and have been using it for a month. I've seen reviews where people mention the unit squeaks right away. I did not find that to be the case. In fact, it's quiet. More quiet that the previous model. But if it does squeak, you can lubricate it (there's plenty of videos on YouTube to show you how). I have not tried out the cords yet as I use the strider mostly to stay mobile at work and not constantly be stuck to my desk. I have to read a lot of reports and do so while striding. I wear a Fitbit and often will get into cardio and most certainly into fat burning while striding. I am 59 years old, was previously athletic with sedentary years in between so I find the compact strider helps keep me mobile as too much sitting is detrimental to my overall health and well-being. In short, I recommend this for anyone who wants to use this in the office or at home, while reading or even watching TV, which is also a good distraction while simultaneously exercising. Next to getting out for a walk or hitting the gym, this is a great way to strengthen your leg muscles and work your heart rate and keep you mobile. Striding is also not straining on the knees or joints. And the footprint is small so it does not take up a lot of space. Note: If you put the strider on a carpet, you might want to get a mat, which I did, otherwise it will leave an impression in the carpet. Lastly, with the handle it is very easy to pick it up and relocate as needed.

So far so go with one exception...
Item arrived in good condition and was simple to put together. No issues or missing parts. I have been using it now for a couple of weeks and no squeaking or noise so far. I have primarily used it sitting down and it really does work your legs and a bit of your abs especially if you sit up straight. Working it in both directions works different mussels. In addition how far out you place it changes the intensity. Sitting down it's not hard to use and doesn't put undue stress on my knees. I have used it a bit standing up and using this this way really increases the intensity. It does help to have a chair on one side to help with balance but it's doable unless you have serious balance issues. My only issue and reason to knock off a star is it's too high to use under my desk. I have a standard desk with a rail that goes around the back. Unless you have space to really push this further back your knees will hit the bottom of the desk. So I have to push my chair back further instead. Also I find it hard to use this while doing any serious computer work but it's great when on conference calls. Have also used it while watching movies. As a bonus it DOES track steps on your Fitbit while wearing it on your wrist as long as your arms are moving a bit or put your hands on your knees while cycling. Also you can put a exercise band through the handle and do some arm and chest exercises while cycling. Great inexpensive alternative to a bike or treadmill.

Recommended buy to integrate exercise into work, gaming, or TV
The best exercise equipment is the one you will actually use. The best exercise is the one that you will integrate into your life and make a permanent habit. This can be used while standing or sitting, which give very different types of exercise. The standing position gives a more intense exercise that would be suitable while watching TV or a movie. I would recommend to take it slow and/or have a wall or furniture nearby until you are sure of your balance on this. It is rated for 250#. The machine seems sturdy and of good build quality, but a few reviews have indicated that it hasn't held up well over time. Be mindful of this if you are near the weight limit and plan on standing on it. The sitting position gives a lower intensity, non-distracting exercise that can burn calories while you work, game, or are just sitting. I much prefer this compared to the mini exercise bike because of its lower profile, more natural motion, and greater stability. The mini bike had to be strapped to the chair to prevent from being pushed away, whereas this stays in place. For the sitting position, be sure to have the metal plate and wheels towards you, as shown in the product pictures. If you have it facing the same direction as with standing, the pedaling is very awkward. Overall solid purchase, great value for its price.

How I maximize my strider
So I recently bought the Stamina inmotion compact strider. I wanted to have something at home incase I couldn't make it to a gym session. Doing some research for something like this you will find a lot of different kinds out there on Amazon so do your research & watch the videos if you can to help you make the best choice for you, hence why I added a video to help you make an educated dession for yourself. I found this one to be the quietest strider machine via reviews and videos that I could find. I can say yeah! It's pretty dang quite as you can hear for yourself in my video you hear nothing. But it's still new so keep that in mind. I'll need to put this through some very addimit pace's so I can get a better read on the quality of this product overtime. I'll come back in a few months or so baring no problems. But right now it's amazing and gets the job done. I give it 5 stars for everything like being quite, easy to put together and materials seem sterdy enough holding me at 220 Easley. I believe it's rated for 250 lbs? Now looking where the front foot goes for standing it has a little wheel when rolling reminds me of roller bladeing. I won't be using this while sitting down or using this in an office setting so how you see me using this is how I'll be using this product. It gets a 3 star for it's lack of range of motion it leaves a lil something to be desired because the strides are very short like half a step but I got use to it. I found my rythm & Balance quick and you will too. I want to say if you are an athlete or were in decent shape for most of your life it's not going to feel like it can give you a good workout by itself and is why I would recommend picking up & adding some egg weights or something equivalent as to compound using your arms and legs in unison to help maximize cardio out put as I have demonstrate in my video for you. So please check it out. Thank you & I hope this helps you..

Bought to help leg circulation
I sit working on a computer 8-10 hours a day (working from home) and my legs sometimes swell so I bought this in hopes to help circulation. I've had it only a few days. It's really heavy duty not some cheaply made piece of equipment. Set up was really easy - the parts were in little packets in the order you would need them and included 2 little tools. Most of the time when they say it will be easy it's not so I was happy about that. I really want to love this thing but so far I've found only one set up that works in using this. It doesn't work for me under a desk - I'm 5'8" - and I can't even put my feet flat in the pedals and use this comfortably. Everything is too low. If I sit in a wooden rocker and lean back - with my feet on the back edge of the pedal - it works. Even at that it tends to not be perfect. The back of my shoe wants to catch on the floor every so often and my foot gravitates out of place as I use it - probably because it's not made to use it this way. It's nice and smooth and quiet. I paid for this model so it would have the carry handle and it's so heavy it's really needed. Since I can't use it at my desk I'm going to try to take regular breaks to use it throughout the day. There are some videos on YouTube you can check out - one show someone using the back part of the pedal which I have to do. I hope this is just a matter of me figuring out a system that works for me.

Intense Cardio Focused Review
This review is going to focus on using this elliptical a little more hardcore, trying to get the best cardio workout possible. So you know who's using this for comparison purposes, I'm going to start by telling you a little about myself. I'm a 5' 11" 23 year old guy weighing in at 145lbs. Prior to this purchase, I hadn't worked out for about two years, but remained thin throughout. I recently found myself at home more than usual, munching out all too often, and I needed to do something to get off my butt and get my heart rate going. I concidered a gym, but because I have no interest in weight training, to pay for a gym membership seemed pointless, not to mention inconvinient and time wasting, which I'll talk about later. So, I did some research, going through compact treadmills and mini steppers, and eventually ended up going with this because of the price, size, durability, and I hoped, effectiveness of the workout. What I found was, this thing is truly lifechanging, and can really positively benefit you in ways that most $100 purchases cannot. Now, I'm going to jump right into the way I use this in comparison to other reviewers, and what you can get from it. As I stated, I'm in good shape, but I wanted something to get my heart up and make me sweat on days where I just felt lazy or fat. Yes, I repeat yes, you can get a great cardio workout with this and really sweat. Most reviewers talked about using this when sitting down, and while I can see the specific benefits by doing so, I'm not going to touch on that. However, don't sit down and expect an efficient workout, please:) So, because it's so compact, the stride is limited. You may be thinking that because your stride is so small, and there's no handle bars, you really can't go fast on it. Well, that's not the case. Trust me, you can go very fast and keep your balance easily. The thing that makes this elliptical really shine is the resistance. You can crank it up quite a lot, basically to the point of it being impossible to move (that means really unlimited resistance). Using common sense now, if you crank this thing up high, try to go fast, you will inevitably feel a burn. Your quads are a primary target, and hamstrings and glutes follow. Your abs are at work for stabilization and from the back and forth motion, but it's limited. So, what I like to do is hop on it with high resistance and just go for a minute. After my first minute, for 15 seconds I pump and go as fast and hard as I can, and then 45 seconds back to normal pace. It's HIIT, but in a little less effective format than a normal sized workout machine, for you won't be able to go as fast, but you can get up there. Like I said, the golden ticket is the resistance when you're upping the speed, instead of just going super fast with no resistance on a normal machine. You will feel the burn. I go for like 10-15 minutes, and my heart is pumping and I definitely break a mini sweat. If I go for about 25-30 minutes, I'm sweating quite a lot. It's what you put into it, but the most important thing is, you CAN go hard and get a great sweat. Next step for me is upping the 15 second pump to 30 seconds, which I won't be able to do for quite awhile. Now, let me talk about using this over going to a gym. This was huge for me. I really didn't want to go to a gym. Some people love that environment, but I hate it. Like I mentioned above, going to a gym is inconvenient and time consuming. You really have to factor this in if you're only interested in cardio. We're busy people, and I'm frequently working at home. Having the obligation to get ready, drive to the gym, do my cardio, drive back, and then shower is really cumbersome. It really is. Knowing you have a cardio machine that you can hop on at any moment, looking any way, is so so so so motivational! On top of that, watching TV while doing cardio makes it so much easier! Oh, what did you say, they have TV at the gym? Well, it's either shared or a tiny thing on the treadmill, and you probably have access to 10 channels. Plus, no privacy. I'm not trying to fight the gym, for they're necessary, but if you're in a similar situation like me and don't have room or money for a great treadmill in your apartment, this thing is godsend, leading me to my next subject, the size. It's so compact, so easy to pick up and move around, that you can get an effective workout nearly anywhere. This means a lot. Other cardio options limit you to one location, so to be able to change rooms is really motivational, for you're never limited by your environment. I love to use this thing in the den while watching TV, but can move it to my room if I desire more privacy. How awesome is that. Knowing you can get a workout at any time during the day, maybe because you're feeling fat when you've had too much at dinner, is sweet. In terms of build quality, I personally haven't had any issues yet. I've had it for about a month now, and use it rather regularly, and it behaves as expected. There's a little bit of sound that comes out of it when I go fast, but it's minor and really not an issue. Do I think that overtime sounds may become more prevalent, sure, especially because I don't know how to lube it up and no where in the instructions does it tell you to do so. All workout machines wear, that's just reality. I got the two year warranty for an additional 10 bucks, so hopefully if anything happens, that's an easy process. Regardless, the positive benefits this has on one's life makes it worth it. Gosh, sorry for the long review. Let me see, what else. You need to wear shoes with this, because your feet will die from the grooves on the pedals. The building of it was very simple, and took approximately 15 minutes. There's an onboard simple fitness monitor, but to be quite frank, I've never used it. How I feel is, you know when you've gotten a good workout. You don't need to count your steps or track your distance. If you're sweating and your heart is pumping, you know that you've done your job. Push yourself people. And yeah, I think that's everything! I really hope you enjoyed my review.[...]Thanks so much!

This thing is great! *support - not so much
****Update 10-28-19**** It still runs. There is the occasional squeaking but it's not too bad. The tape helped as it was the tires, I oiled it up as well so that may have helped. It's good to be used a little at a time. If you do 10 min a day sitting down, you won't have too many issues. It's a pretty great product just to keep your legs moving for a bit. The support for it was terrible and pretty rude, but if you can do a few adjustments yourself, it's a pretty good product. Original: I was going to wait for more time before writing the review to make sure all was still well with it, but I just love it so much! I have an all day sitting job at a computer and though I just got a standing desk, I still was not exercising enough to have the energy for other things. I'll start with the cons as there are few: The machine is not perfect. The handle makes it easier to carry but a 25+ pound object that's a few feet wide is going to be awkward to carry no matter what. I bought the warranty for 3 years or something because some of the reviews that worried me. I've been using it at work for a few weeks already and no issue, except that first awkward phase when I realized I was using it backwards... I've had shin and joint pains if I went too much. This can be remedied by how you press on the pedals with your feet or going backwards or forwards to switch it up (I'll use it for 2-4 hours with short 5-10 min breaks on the hour). I still can't determine if it's my work chair that squeaks every so often or the machine. It's too infrequent to tell. Pro's - I use this for hours on end! If that doesn't wear it out, that's got to be a good build. It's not to heavy so good for transport. It fits under your desk and your knees, which are the real worry height, don't go up super high so the desk doesn't have to be to high. It's essentially silent with only the slightest noise if you are at a very high resistance. This is perfect since I use it at work. You can feel your leg muscles being strengthened and the exercise keeps me wide awake at work. It takes quite a while to start sweating (which can be pro or con depending) which is also great since I don't want to stink out my co-workers. You can sit or stand on it which isn't available in many other models of striders. All in all it's definitely worth it for the $80 price. Its a super great and convenient piece of equipment. All my co-workers had mentioned how they thought about getting one but never could find one like this. Who knows, we might all soon have them :)

Great, for a few days.
I bought this to use a few times per week when I'm working from home when I can't make it to the gym. I had read some positive reviews about this product and decided to give it a try. This looked to be an ideal solution for getting some steps done and for resistance training. Additionally, it came with an exercise app. However, after using it twice per week for a couple of weeks, it started making loud and squeaky noises, which were mentioned in some negative reviews. I tried using some WD-40 lubricant to fix it, but it was of no use. The noise produced by the machine is so loud that it can be heard by others elsewhere in the house, too. Awful. One of the reasons I bought it it's because it was meant to be quiet. I spent over £200 on a poorly made product and unfortunately missed the return window due to having to travel abroad. To say I am disappointent with this exercise machine is an understatement. Avoid.

Potentially excellent, but beware uneven manufacturing quality
Some reviewers in Canada and a greater number in the US (see Amazon.com) have flagged manufacturing quality problems for Stamina mini-cycles and mini-elliptical devices. Based on generally favorable reviews, I ordered the Compact Strider and hoped for the best. Fast delivery, well-packed, easy to assemble, solid. Alas, I could immediately see the wheels were not symmetrical. The right wheel was well inside the edge of the base. The left wheel was right at the edge - an issue raised in other reviews. Worked fine if used sitting. Very nice action, good resistance adjustment. However, standing use was impeded by the fact that the left wheel tracked outwards almost off the base and then clunked/jumped back to the inside as the pedals turned. Made for a noisy and uneven stride. Tried it peddling/walking backwards (worse), or with the device reversed back to front as recommended for use while sitting (even worse). Called the company and they had no suggestions; recommended exchange. I've done that, but (a) it's a huge waste of time, and the box is seriously cumbersome; and (b) there is at least some chance the next one will have the same defect. Absent that problem, it's a four-star or even five-star product. But I think folks should know that they have a chance of getting a clunker (literally) from this company. Update: Got a replacement quickly. This one tracks properly. Wheels are symmetrical, and no clunking/tracking issues. Works fine sitting and standing. Revised to 4 stars. Would be 5 stars, but (a) too early to know final durability, and (b) as others have cautioned, the cycle or stride length is very short when standing. Update 2: Works beautifully under my sit-stand desk. Tip: Easiest to use with a bar stool and desk halfway between usual chair height and standing height. Upgrades to 5 stars. Very happy with this little gizmo.
