The book concludes with several attractive projects for putting the skills to work. For crocheters who are intermediate, you can skip the basics, but the authors have so many little insights about the basics, it's worth reviewing those too. Skills (like how to carry yarn up the side of a project for striped fabric) have a primary description and then the page for the description is referenced in sections where you need to use that skill. I can't say enough good things about the thoroughness and ambitiousness of the book. If you want to learn to crochet really well, or just go to the next level, everything you need is here. I'm an intermediate beginning crocheter. I found explanations of many things I've wondered about. I found in the books stitches I never saw (I’m and intermediate crocheter) and wonderful, effective and useful techniques. Everything is explained very clearly and to a very satisfying depth, with clear photos. This book will give you very solid bases and techniques on every aspects of crochet. I first bought the hardcover and when I saw it I immediately bought the kindle version, to have it always with me on the phone when I need some help and I’m away from home. As to the patterns, they are modern and beautiful, no old bo-ho designs here! There are other excellent books on crochet (and I bought a lot), but when it comes to “general” books not specialized in a particular technique, I think that this is THE ONE for me.
