It smells like the propellant coming out. I buy it for deer hunting and I got one, so I guess it's unscented enough.

Anyone notice any residue on clothing after application?

In my experience, this product does not leave residue on clothing.

Can I check this under a plane if I am travelling or will they remove it? I would not bring it in a carry-on, on board...

It is allowed in a checked bag but not any carry on bag
