Absolutely Great!
I bought two of these because I have a lot of pills to split and some I keep upstairs and some downstairs. I have used both to cut hundreds of pills with no problem. Unlike a lot of pill splitters, this actually has a blade that ensures sharp, mostly clean cuts. I read all the reviews on dozens of pills splitters and all of them had detractors while others swore by them. Thus, there was no clear direction on which one to buy. Finally, looking at the number of positives and the actual comments, I decided to try this one. I'm so glad I did. It has functioned beautifully and shows no sign of breaking or wearing out. At first, it bothered me that the "tray" portion on which you place the pill (its V shaped) was of a silicone rubber material that didn't allow smooth sliding of the pill into place. I think that was intentional in order to keep the pill from moving when you cut it, but it made it a little difficult for someone like me with big hands and fingers and not particularly good motor skills to maneuver it into place. I needn't have been concerned because after you've cut a few pills, a slight film of "pill dust" accumulated on the little mat and it slides right into place at the cutting end of the V. Like all pill cutters though, getting oval or odd shaped pills into the exact place you want them is a little difficult. I've never seen one any better though. It doesn't really matter though, because if it is placed all the way into the apex of the V, you're still going to get 50% of the pill in each half. It's simple geometry when you think about it. I think this is well worth the price and does the job I need with no problems whatsoever. The little reservoir collects quite a few pill halves before you need to empty it and it's easy to do into your hand, so you can then pour them back into the bottle.

A gift to a friend. She loves. It works very well. A good clean cut. Will keep one in travel case and one at home.

Cuts without crushing but less than perfect design.
I've been cutting pills in half for a couple decades and these do the best job of cutting without crushing I have found. One star off because the sliding shield over the blade, while a good idea in theory, is problematic. My first purchase of this product worked fine for a couple years but then the thin, flexible shield started binding so I couldn't open the thing far enough to position a pill. I liked it well enough to buy this pack of two in early November 2025. This time, the sliding shield started binding almost immediately, but not enough that I can't position the pill. It's just slightly awkward so I'll keep using it as long as possible, then start on the second one. In reading reviews I note someone warned about copies that don't have patent numbers cast into the plastic. All of my purchases have had the patent numbers on them so I figure I'm reviewing the actual product.

Pill splitter
I bought these specifically to split a large tablet in half. For a softer pill such as mine (much like an aspirin in size and consistency) even this splitter crumbled the pill more than cut it making the dosing harder. I actually had better luck taking hold of the pill in my hand and using my fingers to split it in half. I am not an engineer so don't know why it did not work better. I AM a nurse and have used many pill splitters but it does seem the ones for home are not able to do as good a job as what is made commercially. Still if the pill were harder, it would probably do a satisfactory job.

small but mighty
UPDATE: Still using the first of the Ultra Pill Slitters, it is still sharp and still providing me with a nice neat cut. One Thing.. make sure to "seat" the pill properly before cutting in order to get a good even cut. My dog need to take a dose of 1 and 1/2 of a particular pill. Even the vet admitted that they are all but impossible to cut. The cutter/crusher I had at home sure didn't work. The pharmacy said no.. they wouldn't cut any. So I came here to find something, counting on the reviews to find one that would work for me. I have been using the Ultra Pill Splitter By Apex Healthcare Products for nearly 2 months and it works like a charm. It is great to not have to worry that the dose isn't right, or to lose a pill completely by trying to use an inadequate tool. This comes in a two pack, and so I hope to find that they last me as long as he needs the medication. The first one shows no sign of wear. I have already recommended them to my vet, and now I recommend them to you.

BEST PILLCUTTER I HAVE USED. READ REVIEW TO SEE WHY.
This is the best cutter I have tried and used; and trust me when I tell you that it has been many. I had one similar to this one but it finally broke. The mechanism for cutting the pill was exactly the same as this one with minor differences. Now when the old one broke I thought that surely in themany years I had used the same type, that surely somebody had come up with something easier than lining up the pill and hope you have it lined up correctly so it will cut exactly on the score. First of all you cannot cut a pill unless it is scored. I am an RNZ so you can believe that it is a fact. So I first bought the $29 one made of metal. However it is impossible to use on any shape of pill that is round. See in order to use it you have to stand the pill on its edge in order to line it up for cutting on the score. Then I tried one that had a little tray inside with a definite seperation of this tray and therefore making it easier to line up. Perfect right? Wrong. Every time I used it, it would crush, and splinter the pill. I tried everything to get it to work but no go. Okay now the differences between this one and the old one. The old one did not have a clear view when closed on the pill so you cansee if itโs lined up. The old ones tray came to more of a point than this one does. So a small round pill fits on the tray better. The old one I had to close it gently then pound it down to split the pill without shattering it. This one, you can just close it gently then tap on it and, Voila. The onle drawback on this one is the line down the middle to demark the center is not clearly seen. You have to eyeball it and that is nor accurate. However the advantages outweigh the dis ones. So there you go.

Does the job well...
I tried this puppy out as soon as I got it home, and it didn't disappoint. I needed to find a cutter that would cut through coated pills EVENLY, and had been unable to up to that point. The blade is very sharp, and the surface that the pill sits on grips it in one position while you flip the top closed to cut it. Once in a while a pill will cut just slightly unevenly- but I think it has more to do with the operator than the cutter! It feels much more solid and more put together than any other cutters I've had. I also really like the little cup at the front of it, where you can place the pill halves and continue cutting, rather than have to move them back to the bottle after each and every pill is cut. This sped up the process A LOT. I would definitely recommend this product.
