**Q: will this work on a diesel engine as there is no coil, can i use the tacho pick up in the alternator?**
A: I don’t know but I doubt it as it works off the spark plug leads

**Q: Will this work on yamaha f20gel outboard motor and is it possible to extend the cable?**
A: Should work fine.  I don't know if you can extend the cable though. Not sure how tolerant the display end of the unit will be to water.

**Q: four stroke, single cylinder (400cc) would it work???**
A: Yes it should do, you need the correct setting thats all

**Q: How can i turn on the backlit light**
A: This meter has an adjustable backlight: ON/OFF/AUTO, Default Backlit mode: AUTO (L-AUT).
To Set the Backlit: On “TOT” total hours mode, Press “MENU” button 7 Times until display shows
“L-AUT” (showed as chart below), Hold the “MENU” button until “L-AUT” icon starts flashing, release
and Press either “MENU”or “SET” button until you get your desired backlit mode.
After 10 seconds with no operation done, the display will return to total hours, you are done. L-AUT+  LIGHT “AUTO” mode . L - ON = “ON” mode . - off “= OFF” mode .
