I approached Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream with some caution. Not because there is anything wrong with it. Quite the opposite. It is because the name suggests that this is no ordinary moisturiser. This is not merely cream. This is Micro-Sculpting Cream. Apparently, while lesser moisturisers simply sit there being damp, this one has taken up sculpture. I respect the ambition. The formula contains peptides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, and Olay says it is designed to hydrate, plump and firm the skin. That is a considerable list of responsibilities for something that lives in a small red jar. Still, reports from the human testing department have been very positive. It goes on smoothly. It moisturises well. It leaves the skin feeling softer and less inclined to resemble an old legal document. Excellent. The texture is rich without being absurdly greasy, which is important. A face cream should improve one's complexion. It should not make one look as though one has recently been basted. I am also pleased that Olay has resisted the temptation to give it a ridiculous brand name. After MUPOER, UFREE, Henreepow, and Mbzoey, encountering a product simply called Olay is almost restful. I know how to pronounce it. The curtains know how to pronounce it. Nobody has left the room. This is progress. The marketing, however, remains magnificently enthusiastic. Anti-aging. Anti-wrinkle. Firming. Triple collagen peptide. Micro-sculpting. One gets the impression that if I leave the jar unattended overnight, it may renovate the bathroom. But beneath all the adjectives is a genuinely good moisturiser. And that is what matters. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mister Twiggly P.S. I should clarify that I do not personally use anti-aging face cream. I am, in case this increasingly important detail has escaped your attention, a bear. My face is covered in fur. Wrinkles are therefore largely an administrative matter. P.P.S. I am intrigued by the phrase “Micro-Sculpting.” I have examined the jar carefully. No chisels were included. No tiny sculptor arrived. I feel the advertising may have raised unrealistic expectations. P.P.P.S. If Olay ever releases Macro-Sculpting Cream, I shall require advance notice. That sounds considerably more serious. 🐻
