Works well for me
I just used it for the first time to add 3-4 psi to each of my Ford Ranger tires. It's cold here, so I trickle charged my battery before and after. Also checked that the air hose screwed onto my tire stems before unpacking the entire unit. Briefly, it worked fine. I followed the instructions and started the unit before screwing the air hose to a tire, then left it running until I had finished with all 4 tires and disconnected the hose from the last tire. The gauge is off by 5 psi but consistent; I need it to read 35 psi to get the 30 psi I'm looking for. If it fails next time I'll let you know, but for now I'm very satisfied.

Buy this device
Great device to add to your collection. Well constructed and works great. I use for my bike that requires 90 psi for tires. Highly recommend. Even comes with an needle for inflating basketballs and footballs. How great is that? Excellent value.

Good for emergency but not like it's bigger sibling.
The gauge is off by 10 psi, the LED lights are dim but it's better than nothing I suppose. Led has two position switch, one for sos flash the other is for lighting. Ran it for 10 mins to make sure it was not DOA the cables feel like 16 gauge and I don't trust the cigg lighter plug. I will add alligator clips on a thicker wire for it. This is for wife's rav4 emergency, when u need roadside assistance in winter it can be a long wait. Also gives me option of airing down in emergency. Update: the gauge still sucks, I added alligator clips to it. Now for some numbers on amps it pulls. Sos led light .18 amps Led flashlight .25 amps Pump no load 6.5 amps Pump 20 psi load from tire 9.5 amps Pump 30 psi load from tire 10.2 amps Pump 40 psi load from tire 11 amps Cig lighter should not be used in this unit, that is a heavy load. I have a 10amp arc fuse on mine, might go to 15amp. Remember the guage is off by 10 psi so my above Numbers have a +/- tolerance of 5psi.

The pumps are the truth
I have been using the MV50 model for a few years now for my truck when off-road and loved it. I bought one of this model (HV40A2) for use in my car. Worked as well as my larger model and I was impressed enough to buy one for both my son and his best friend to keep in their cars. It is a reliable tool and much better than any of the plastic body pumps you might find at wally world. Use this size for a normal passenger car, the MV50 for most SUVs and the MV90 for larger SUV or truck tires.

Powerful pump, unfortunately exceeds its spec'd current draw
The max amperage of the HV-40A2 is specified as 15 A, both on the SuperFlow website and on the pump itself. However, the pump I received exhibited an inrush current in excess of 15 A. The result was that the pump blew the 15 A fuses on both of the power outlets in my car. The battery is fully charged to 12+ volts so that's not the problem, either. I had been impressed with my dad's SuperFlow HV-40. It's a quiet but powerful pump, and it's never exceeded its 15 A rating. It seems either I got a bad apple or there is some additional current draw on the HV-40A2 due the LED light circuit. And no, I wasn't trying to turn on the pump and the LEDs simultaneously---though I'd expect to be able to do that, too. Hopefully Amazon will restock the HV-40 soon.

Good find!
This is so nifty! We keep it in our truck at all times so we always have it if needed. It fits under the seat neatly. We bought one for my mother in law too. It works well too!

Good pump, when it works
Pros: - The long air hose and power cable means this unit has great range - Built-in light is handy - Powerful for its size Cons: - Pretty consistently outdraws the 15 amps it's specd to. Blew both 20 amp power fuses in my car. (Fortunately Amazon sells an adapter to hook straight to the battery) - Unreliable. Sometimes I get the thing out, hook it up, turn it on and....nothing. The light works, so the fuse isn't blown. So you have to start over and reconnect everything and try again. Other times it fired right up. - Gauge is hard to read. What looks like a sticker over the gauge face is actually imprinted into the plastic! - Poor value. I bought this because my wife has had a similar older model for over a decade (and it was her dad's before that), so i figured it would last a long time. Boy was I wrong.
