RMP Stamping Blanks, 1/4 Inch x 2 Inch Rectangle, 16 Oz. Copper 0.021 Inch (24 Ga.) - 20 Pack

I am learning to do metal stamping and wire work and I decided copper would be the metal I worked with. (Easier to choose one so I can keep one set of chain and findings around.) I bought these to practice stamping. The finish is lovely (actually better than some larger RMP copper square blanks I also bought) and is protected by plastic films on each side. It matches my other bright copper materials (headpins, eyepins, jump rings, etc.) so finished pieces incorporating these have a professionally-made appearance. The films are a bit difficult to remove (but you should remove them before stamping).This is a good width for lettering, although I am primarily using symbols instead of letters (just personal preference). So far I have done pretty well in my practice attempts at stamping with a steel bench block, one pound hammer, and ImpressArt stamps (there were a few other branded stamps in there I tried, as well). I am able to punch through it with a EuroTool metal punch so I can put holes in the ends.Whether or not you need to smooth out the edges depends on how you use these. (There are a number of affordable rotary tools on Amazon if you decide to smooth out the edges. I have one from Black and Decker.) You may want to run over the surface with a polishing cloth, but the surfaces were pretty good to begin with (better than some of the other copper stamping blanks I bought).Overall I felt that these were high quality and I would buy them again if I run out and/or buy more blanks from the same company.

Very nice quality. Soon as I got them I made this for a friend. I did have to use my Dremel to soften the edges as they were very sharp. Each were perfect-no defects in metal / surfaces. Very nicely packaged and each piece one side has protective plastic coating that you can peel off. I have ordered other items from RMP cause of their quality- and will continue to.

These work great. I didn't have any marks on the ones I received. They were protected with a thin layer of film on both sides, which you must remove before stamping. I taped them to my steel block with masking tape before stamping.I've included a sample of a practice stamping using 3mm Courier stamps. Permanent marker was used to darken the indents (rub on, wipe off quickly).

They worked well for the project I was working on; however, on every single piece there were several little circles imprinted on the cover that did not rub off. I don't know if maybe this is something that's inevitable when dealing with copper but it was a little disappointing.
