Very Fast
Plugged directly into my box's 3.1 gen 2 port, I get read speeds of 840 MB/s and write speeds of 768 MB/s using CrystalDiskMark. Plugged into a 3.1 gen 2 hub however I get similar read speeds however my write speeds drop to 739 MB/s. Clearly this SSD's best performance happens when you don't use a hub. It's really small and a nice piece of tech and the speeds are pretty close to advertised.

Silly fast transfers!!
My PNY flash drives ranging from 8-32GB keep failing at the worst times after years of use. My Dell laptop despite being USB 3.1 Gen1 is slow with transfers on flash drives. My desktops being the same Gen are substantially quicker. I needed to bridge the gap between work and school and 7 flash drives dropping like flies. This did it. Laptop transfers at about 118MBs and my desktop is easily 330MBs night and day from flash drives. Worth every penny, storage was never an issue but speed is. After sitting in class for nearly 4 hours, waiting 5 minutes to transfer files is agony. Now I wait seconds.

Decent external SSD.
What I dislike comes first: 1) The USB C to C cable that came with the drive was faulty. I'm using it using the USB A to C cable that came with it as a result, but got it for the C to C capability. 2) The USB cables are short. That could be a plus if you're using this on a laptop, but on a desktop you'll either need a new cable or have the drive hanging in the air on the side of your case. 3) The drive gets really hot under normal use. The good: fast enough to use as my boot drive for a second OS install. Works.

Buy 2x 1TB and stripe RAID 0 on Mac Thunderbolt...wow!
I bought two of the 1TB models. Each on their own on a Mac thunderbolt 3 connection (running down at 10gBps USB 3.1 Gen 2) I got about 760mBps, but making a Disk Set and striping RAID 0 on the pair I get 1350mBps! That is almost as fast as my internal flash drive. And it’s 2TB at that speed for $250 total on the sale price! On old USB 3.0 you only get ~760mBps so no advantage there for RAID 0. You can’t really make these things burn until USB3.1 gen 2 runs on your machine. Macs with thunderbolt2/3 get that gratis. But note these don’t have daisy chainable ports and thunderbolt is daisy chain only. So you need either a 3.1g2 hub or enough tbolt ports free. The form factor is stubbier but just barely bigger than the Samsung T5, and far faster. Amazed these went so cheap. Maybe I get another pair. Time will tell if they last.

Good Product for Storage or Backup
Purchased a PNY 250GB specifically for backup images on my new WIN 10 PC. Like it coming with 2 different cables for connectivity. Very portable size. Reasonable price. When plugged in, the PNY was recognized and showed in the proper places, device manager, file explorer. I started my backup utilizing Macrium Reflect from my PC SSD to the PNY SSD. 61GB filled on the PNY drive. This took 36 minutes. At start the transfer rate was 500MB/sec. After 5 minutes this graduated down to 275-325MB/sec. This slowed to 225MB/sec after 20 minutes to finish. The unit was warm to the touch but not hot at all. The PNY backup file showed properly after finish. No problems. Hopefully this unit will last for some time storing my backup images. If it holds up after several downloads I plan on purchasing another so I may rotate the two. Always giving me a backup available in case one unit fails.

Solid state == small!
As someone who is accustomed to buying platter drives for computers, my mind is admittedly fixated on a very specific set of physical dimensions. This solid-state drive is roughly half the size of even my smallest external platter drive. It's quite convenient to have a full terabyte of high-speed storage in such a small package, and it gives me peace of mind knowing that -- since it's solid state -- something as minor as a bit of jostling isn't going to send a read/write head scratching across the data surface, potentially eradicating all of my valuable data. A good buy, in my opinion.

PNY PRODUCTS ARE GREAT BUT MISSED THE BOAT BY NOT PROVIDING SOFTWARE
I like the PNY SSD product, but it is useless for me without backup software. Acronis provides mirroring software for PNY products if they are connected to the internet and can be accessed by Acronis. Users do not want computers and cell phones with personal information connected to the internet and especially if they can be accessed by software companies located in foreign countries. Users want hardware and software that will backup computers and cell phones to portable SSDs offline without being connected to the internet. WHY ISN'T PNY SMART ENOUGHT TO FIGURE THIS OUT? They could be the leader in offline image backup by providing a product that users want and need.

I bought this to hook up to my Mac and it does indeed achieve the speeds that it advertises. Just plug it in and it's ready to go. It doesn't run hot unless you are pushing it very hard but it never gets excessive. It is a nice compact size which will take up next to no room in a bag or case and because it is USB powered there are no power cables to lug around. All in all it is a great speedy little 1TB drive which leaves the Samsung T5 way behind.
