Excellent for moving! Critter proof but not water tight.
I bought these because we were moving and I didn't want to do the cardboard shuffle again. We already had a bunch of boxes still in the garage from our last move over a decade ago we never unpacked. Some in cardboard and some in Rubbermaid tubs. If you're clean as can be, raccoons, opossums, mice, etc all will try at one time or another to find a warm shelter in your building(s). If not for food, just for warmth. Cardboard and papers make excellent bedding and Rubbermaid does not! For us, sadly there was a leaky roof and some of our items were damaged. The cardboard encased items were of course FUBAR. The Rubbermaid held up better. Most of the items were protected though some water did get in and in some cases there was mold. Seeing how the Rubbermaid held up much better we decided to buy more. Local stores don't sell them much or they're wildly over priced. These were very reasonable and arrived undamaged. We were able to move A LOT of things using these boxes and just our 1994 Nissan Pathfinder from a 1400 sq ft house. No bubble wrap: towels and the junk mail newspapers every week helped us. Each tub safely held all of our things on each trip. It was easy to reuse each tote and then afterwards we used them to put our final garage items up. Each one stacks well into the other and as long as you're not stacking obscenely heavy totes on top of lighter totes they do just fine. They will hold a lot - one of ours is full of books while another is full of DVDs. Just be sure whoever has to carry them knows what they're going to pick up or "surprise". As a fun side note they make excellent toddler distraction pools just add adult supervision, a water hose, sprayer, some ziptie sponge water balls and go! These totes as noted are not fool proof. These tubs hold up but collapse under an adult so don't try to be smarttelligent and use one as an alternative to a kitchen ladder. They will let in water and if super windy fine dust. Be sure if you have valued items you use something like a vacuum sealed bag, gasket lined tubs, etc. The vacuum sealed bags are a great way to maximize space in these if you're storing pillows, blankets or other linens. For photos I recommend scanning to Google Photos first which is unlimited and free (Android and iOS) as of this post. Dropping one with breakables you still risk shattering something. We mark ours up with sharpies and secure both the shelves and tubs with sturdy cordage. Older totes we've had held up well but I've noticed that the plastic these are made of (as with all plastics) is not great out in the direct sun. If these are left out exposed to the elements constantly over the years they will start to get brittle. Used in your garage, they don't seem to. In the end, collect memories not things! Good luck with yours!

Worked well for what I needed them for.
My reason for buying these bins are that I have a mother cat with 3 babies in my yard. They are precious and with the weather changing I was very worried about them freezing. There were 5 babies and I did find a home for 2. I tried taking1 baby in and she cried so loud all night so I let her go back to mom and I needed something so they can have shelter for the winter. I just want to add that If you bought these to use for storage they are excellent, strong, durable, large and will last forever! For the people who want to help these poor cats who don't have a warm home to go to, this is really good! I'm no expert but this is what I did. I made 2 entrances by using a soldering gun to melt through the plastic. Took forever but well worth it. I have no tools so I couldn't cut the strong plastic. I bought clear plastic (clear shower curtains) and made flaps so the rain and wind cant get in. Attached them with Velcro. I Bought 2 heated pads for them to lay on and they love it. The mom and her 3 babies are always in there now. Its still cold inside though so I have bought pads that you use for reptiles, I checked out how warm they get and they are usable to add some more warmth into this container. I saw someone use them on another Amazon review and welcomed the idea!! These would be pads you place under a tank to keep the glass warm but they don't get too hot to use inside my shelter. They will actually stick to the sides. I will always be looking for ways to get this bin to be warmer but its better and warmer then nothing. The bin is waterproof and I used styrofoam squares to line the inside of the box. I got them from Chewy, they used them when sending out my frozen dog food. They came in very handy for me. I'm so glad I found these bins. They are large enough for all 4 cats/kittens and im grateful for peoples reviews which helped me and gave me such great ideas that I would have never thought of on my own.

Did Something Get Messed Up when Counting to 6?
I like the durability of these items and can't wait to use them. However, when I took them out of box, 2 out of the 6 bins were missing lids. Not sure if I can get new ones in a timely manner, but hoping so. I like Rubbermaid products in general, just wondering why they didn't complete full order
