Does it come with the hammer pick axe thing?

The great thing about Amazona.com is that you can pass your mouse over the picture of what you are thinking about buying and see exactly what is in it. to answer your question...If you want a Miners hammer (Hammer on one side and a pick on the other side...you must order it separately. when I bought my miners panning kit , I also purchased a folding camp shovel for digging gravel and sand out of the streambed.

Does a chemical smell come from any of these items, especially the handle, does it have a faint smell roughly like WD-40, and that gets on your hands

Mine do not they seem to be made of a hard plastic that doesn't appear to smell like petroleum anymore than you might think and no hand transfer or water residue appeared.

Is it plastic and if so is it recyclable? If plastic, does it have the recycling symbol?

Yes it is plastic and No I do not see a recycling symbol on my dad's.
