I really like the way the epic(s) are compiled that make it easy to read, and the annotations give a very good context to better understand the human component that make these stories so powerful in antiquity, and that still resonate today. Overall, it is not just about the accuracy of the narration, that should be left for scholars, but it makes a nice read for the reader curious about ancient mythology

I was looking into ancient history and stumbled across this book . I was enthralled by the story . Couldn’t believe I had never heard of it . Seriously is such a good read .

Absolutely stellar. I’ve read many different versions and translations of the epic, and this one is the most “real” in my opinion. The prose is meaningful and feels like an epic story, and less like a novella. the references of the tablets and the addition of contextual media really gives you a better sense of the epic in its entirety. if you want to read the epic of Gilgamesh, read this version. You won’t be disappointed.

Good, mostly for its antiquity. The story of the flood was short, but interesting in its similarity to the biblical stories

This book forms part of 6 month reading project I started in December reading through Sumerian, Babylonian & Assyrian histories, myth, religion and of course Gilgamesh. This book is outstanding.

It was a pleasure to read a story of humanity which is over 5500 years old. This book was well organized and very information about the Samaritan culture.
