Very true to the taste claim. That said, you could easily get menu fatigue off this thype of thing. I recommend you use this to thin out a ration and supplement other food options.

I teach in "bush" Alaska, and am always looking for emergency rations to take with me hunting, ice fishing, etc. This year I'm in the Aleutians and we get very high winds and no-fly conditions for a week or more at a time. The only things flying then are the angels and the coast guard, which is for most purposes the same thing. I carry granola bars (good), Sailor boy pilot bread (the Alaska staple) and peanut butter (good but crackers are stale tasting unless toasted). Canned food and MREs are heavy, and MRE's are expensive. I just weighed 3 MREs that range from 18 ounces to 22 ounces, and are about 1200 calories each. This 3600 calorie bar weighed just over 24 ounces, far less than the 3 MREs required for the same number of calories. Survival situations in Alaska often require a lot of calories, as people tend to be wet and cold. This is a very low cost way to carry good tasting concentrated calories. I bought some of these bars and one of the three I ordered must have had a hole in it as it lost the vacuum seal. This became the one I taste tested. My wife, 2 children, and I all liked the bars, I thought they tasted like a vanilla wafer cookie, but with more of a lemon flavor than vanilla. My wife used to be a girl scout and says they taste like the lemon trefoil (shortbread) cookie. The lemon flavor is not strong, and these were sweetish, but not sweet enough to make me thirsty. I'm going to try a couple of days on these but I'm very impressed with the price and taste so far. It's pretty hard to get a day's worth of long-term storable portable food for this price.

I bought this in 2023 and threw it into my winter survival kit for my car. I took it out this spring to check on my supplies and notices a small puncture in the vacuum sealed package. I'm disappointed in the packaging, because I know it wasn't thrown around or abused in my kit. So I retired this package and will replace with another, but this time I will probably add a layer of protection around the package to ensure the seal isn't compromised again. I did decide to open the package up since the seal was already broken and the 9 bars come individually wrapped in a thin plastic wrapper (kinda like what you d find with a "Little Debbie's" snack). I saw some dark oxidization on one of the bars, so I am glad I didn't take the risk to try to save it for another year. I chose the best looking bar to try a little nibble for a taste test. The bar is actually pretty flavorful so I will probably buy again, but this time I will make an effort to keep the vacuum sealed package safe.

A little on the stale side this time but still good tasting. It is mislabeled though. If you are a hundred pound waif, this is three days of food. For the average man, engaged in hard work, it's one day. You can't eat these long term but short term these have three important qualities. First, you will actually eat them. They are good tasting and are in fact, in danger of being snacked upon. By good tasting I mean they are superior to the average commercial cookies but better nutrition, lol. Eating them is satisfying due to high caloric intake. They are also, more fat and less sugar. This is important stuff as higher sugar intake will cause insulin spikes and hunger pangs. Second, they take up minimum space and weight. You could easily stuff a weeks worth of food in a pack and carry it with no problems. And lastly, they are not the death sentence, dehydrated foods are. Water, not food is usually the determining survival issue in an emergency. You can live weeks without food, barely two days without water. If you dehydate your body with freeze dried foods you have no water to rehydrate with, you will live hours under stress. Ironically, these are concentrated calories and don't waste space with air like dehyrdrated foods do unless you grind them to powder. If you have no water, MREs are a far better choice. You can live off the moisture in most of those foods. It's a trade off in weight and space. These food bars are a food of last resort. However, if you enjoy being off the beaten path, hiking or whatever, having three days of food in case you get lost will save your life. To be clear, that means three of these packages...not one. People need roughly 10 calories per pound a day, when not under stress. But under stress, add 1000 calories...perhaps 2.

These taste pretty good. I had to try these out before I buy more for my emergency food stash. I like how they don’t make you thirsty either. One small issue is a few bars inside the plastic were open from one end of the plastic on a few of the bars. Customer service went ahead and made this right for me which shows they are a company worth doing business with. Replacement was sent and its in perfect condition.

They are individually wrapped, which is nice. They taste like a grainy, kinda gritty shortbread cookie. Not terrible, not impressive. Just meh. But in a survival setting, the taste would obviously be almost irrelevant. I do like how they don't make me thirsty. I could munch on one and not get the urge to chase it with water. What I'm somewhat disappointed about is the fact that the individual wrappings for 6 out of the 9 bars was unsealed....or like the strength of the wrappers at their seams were weak. The moment I lifted the flap of a wrapper(not to open it, just gently lifting it), it's like it gave up on its job. I was left with a gaping hole in the wrapper. And that happened 6 times....So the second I opened the protective pouch, I had to eat what I could and deal with the rest. But other that the weak wrappers, the bars are good.

I received my order today unfortunately I was missing one. Haven't tried them, as they are for emergency purposes but they are vacuum sealed very well. No leaks in them. So maybe someone was hungry. Not gonna make a big deal about it. God bless em lol 👊😁🙏 Edit. So, I was able to resolve the issue with the missing package, they refunded me the whole price!!! Yesterday I decided to open one to try them because I try everything I get for long term. So yeah, they are pretty darn tasty and pretty filling. I inspected every package and they are perfectly sealed. With all the craziness going on in the world and the gradual inflation, I'm thinking this is what I'm going to be living on now. Might as well get used to it now before it's here and you're dying for a burger or some Chinese food 🫣🤣💪
