what is length of plug in cord? thank you.

Hello friend, thanks for your interest in our lamp. The length of plug in cord is 59inch/1500mm. Thank you!

Are you just able to turn it on/off by tap or plus dimming capacity?

Hi friend, thanks for your interest in our item. You could not only turn the lamp on/off by tap on the whole base, but also choose ideal brightness level as you desire. It works in this way: 1st tap to get it turn on(low light), 2nd tap to get it brighter(medium light), 3rd tap to get it more brighter(high light), 4th tap to turn it off

Would a flame effect bulb work in this lamp?

Maybe. The lamp was designed for an incandescent candelabra base bulb of 40 watts or less. It was updated by the seller to replace that with a "dimmable" LED candelabra base bulb. So, if the bulb you are considering presents an incandescent load of fewer than 40 watts you'd be in the ballpark. What I don't know is if the "flame effect" presents a stable resistive load. If the load changes as the fiame effect changes the load dynamically it might interfere/confuse the lamp's dimmer circuits. That said, the lamp is cheap enough you could buy one and try it. Keeping in mind the Amazon pretty much no question asked return policy. 🙂
