Works well
It was a good price. I've used it a few times, and it works well and has good power. The blades have been easy to change. Overall, it seems to be a good product.

Happy with the 20v tool
I ordered this saw in order to dismantle a fairly large hot tub that died and was too large to take out of the room that was built around it over 20 years ago. I thought about hiring a company to do it for me due to my age, but they would have charged over $400 and are historically unreliable. So for a little over a $100 I was able to do the job myself and now how a great tool to boot. I removed the heavy, mostly solid pump and heating unit before beginning, so most of the metal was removed to make the job easier. I was a bit concerned about the 5ah I already owned whether it would last long enough to get the job done and, while it took some time to get the job done, the battery was not an issue. The saw performed great and I used a wood saw blade which cut through the fiberglass, wood, foam, and plastic parts with little or no effort. The tool and the battery lasted better than my body did while taking awkward positions and positioning the saw to cut through the curved molded tub. I was able to cut the tub into 4 pieces in order to be able to handle and move it easier.

Dewalt SawsAll battery Unit
Great tool! Used it for the first time to cut up branches, it worked fast and clean cuts. So nice having a cordless saws now. The blades we bought with the saw are thick, sturdy, and it’s easy to handle.

Great product Great value for the price
I bought this for my husband, he loves it! He has already cleared out half the backyard beyond the fence line. He loves that there is no cord to get tangled up. The Battery lasts a long time.

Decent tool, but some flaws
I recently got this tool to cut PVC and ABS pipes for a DIY project. The tool feels solid and well made, but it has a few pretty annoying problems: 1. The blades do not lock in properly. I got DeWalt blades too. Once locked in, there's significant side-to-side play, as if the calipers do not fully tighten over the blade in the locked position. That seems to me like a pretty major flaw, since at high speed the back-and-forth motion of the saw can easily push the blade sideways and snap it. I don't know what the folks at Dewalt were thinking.. maybe they designed the saw for thicker blades and the recent ones they sell are just not thick enough (cost savings??) resulting in this arguably unsafe condition. 2. The angle of attack seems wrong. If you look closely at the photos, you can see that the blade installs at a certain angle relative to the axis of motion, which means it is not possible to use this saw like one would use a manual saw , where the teeth move back and forth perfectly along the saw's axis of motion. Instead, the teeth move away from the material when the blade pushes forward, and subsequently they hit and bite into the material at an angle when the blade pulls back. This introduces more vibration than necessary and makes the cuts rougher than they would be otherwise if the blade teeth were to simply move back and forth along the axis of motion. 3. The shoe at the tip is flimsy. There is a metal shoe at the tip that allows the saw body to push against and align with the material for a 90 degree cut. This shoe swivels up-down, but it's not possible to "lock" it in any given position. It will swivel while cutting, as one moves the saw along the material. I don't see the point of this. It introduces yet another point of instability during cuts, in addition to the side-to-side blade play.

Not for beginners and don't expect this to be just like any other saw you've used because......
This is a great product and gets the job done. Don't listen to all of the 4-star or less reviews. I noticed people complaining about the vibrations, the side-to-side movement of the blade, battery consumption, and incorrect angle of cut. Wake up people. The name of this tool is Sawzall. The power and RPMs required to cut through anything is A LOT! It will use battery power faster than a driver or circular saw. It's not possible to use this saw, in the manner you would use a regular saw. It requires practice or an experienced user. If it wasn't vibrating and hard to handle, it would be weak. Someone who complained about the incorrect way in which the blade moves against material needs to understand that the saw should be started before contact with its intended surface. Apply pressure to your material slowly as the blade is moving. The shoe guard is meant to give you control and allow you to rock the saw up and down as you cut. It's not meant to "lock down" as one reviewer complained about saying inability to "lock in on any given position". If it locked down, it would rip your arm off as you were cutting. It can get pulled right out of your grip. Dewalt is a fabulous product, and Dewalt would not have released something that was unsafe. The quality is unmatched by rivals. The cuts WILL be rough. Get over it. When you're trying to cut all the pipes and supply lines to a faucet from under the sink and they have not been changed in over 30 years, it works. Don't complain about the vibration. This tool is not for beginners. Use the right blade for the right project and let the saw do the work for you. Go slow.

Works hard.
I'm a remodeler. I don't use this everyday but when you need it, you need it. I contacted DeWalt to find out what the difference was between the DCS380 and DCS384 because the 380 was about a hundred bucks cheaper. Based on the representative, the 380 is an older model. I've already used it a couple of times, it's GREAT... I highly recommend it. One thing I would recommend is that you use a 4 or 5 ah battery, the 2 ah doesn't run long enough.

This is described as 20v for the US market but works fine with standard 18v Dewalt XR batteries. These are not precision cutters, but great for chopping up stuff where millimetre accuracy is not needed. As per the description, the blade fits in two different ways which can be handy where access is difficult. It has a bright LED which also helps a lot. As with all saws of this type, the blade can catch and make the saw jump if you are not careful, so protective gloves and eye protectors are a good idea - the queues at A&E are so long these days, so why take a chance on injuring yourself?

This is a tool only version. Perfect if you are already invested in the Dewalt tool system. Unit itself looks well built, typical Dewalt quality. Has a good weight to it but not too heavy. Adding a battery 4A battery pack to it did not off balance the tool. It felt comfortable in my hands and also during operation. I like the safety switch so you can lock the trigger and not accidentally turn it on if when switching blades. Or if you have curious little ones running around, they won't accidentally turn it on. I usually remove the battery, it's a habit I have when using power tools. After I am done with it, even for a minute, I will unplug the power source. Installation of your choice of blades is straight forward. flip the tab on the side of the unit and slide the blade in. One thing I did not like is that you have to keep holding that tab up. It's spring loaded so if you let go, it locks it again. Personally, I prefer one that you unlock and then lock but that's a minor gripe. You can mount your blades in a variety of ways to fit your work situation. The instructions provided is clear. I needed a reciprocating saw for a quick project and used it to cut through two cedar fence ties stacked on top of one another. I had to cut from the bottom up (backwards) due to space constraints and this is where the compact design of the tool shined. If this was a regular sized recip saw, I would not have enough room to work work. The compact size allowed me to fit into a tight spot and still keep control of the tool while in operation. Grip on the saw was good and I felt in control of it. The saw does kick back a bit but use some common sense, hold it steady and don't force it to cut faster than it can manage and you won't have any issues. I used Diablo blades with the saw as I've had good experiences with the in the past with saw blades. The combo was perfect for my needs and made quick work of cutting through both ties quickly.

My trusty old corded Dewalt reciprocating saw was a pain to get to some areas in my yard so I finally added this to my 20v cordless collection and so glad I did. Works great with a 5AH battery. Battery lasts well considering how hard this tool works. I have been using it to cut out stumps and roots in a wooded area on our property I have been cleaning up. Typical good Dewalt quality. Great price on Amazon and well worth the cost. Has saved me a ton of time and effort on this rough job and will be a useful tool to have around in the future
