Are these pants warm enough to wear outside in 40 degree temperatures or lower?

Certainly. Perfect in 40 degrees. Too hot for 70 degrees and above if active all day. My favorite all day work pants even under 20 degrees. Seem to resist wind and even some light rain or snow well.
