The only downside—and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5—is that it tends to stain the skin during application. If you're not careful, you’ll end up with black dye on the skin around your beard. It does fade after a day or two, but I wish the formula or application method minimized this better. I’ve learned to apply a thin layer of lotion or petroleum jelly around the beard to reduce staining, and that helps. Aside from the skin staining issue, this is a reliable, effective beard dye that delivers salon-quality results at home. Have used many times to darken my extremely light beard hair. Works wonderfully. If you have dry or sensitive skin, put on lotion before you put on the dye- it might burn/dry your skin out. Usually its fine though. Also make sure you pick the right colour. Looks a bit funny if you pick a too light or too dark colour.
