It's Great When Thigns Actually Work Well & As Advertised
I buy 95% of my purchases online at Amazon. They are reliable and trustworthy. Plus I hate shopping in crowded stores unless absolutely necessary like at Whole Foods for food etc.; plus our sales tax is the highest in the Nation. Not to mention gas prices to drive to 1-3 stores to find each item. Nope, not for me. My time outside of work and my profession is to enjoy. Shopping at AMZN makes that possible; let UPS or FedEx do the driving. I received this for my older model CR-V with a rear tire and tire cover. I also bought a new/used Trek hybrid bike after not having a bike for past 3 years. I needed to get back in shape after some recent hospitalizations; and lifting the bike into the rear of the SUV and needing to take off the quick-release wheel was was a pain. This product worked 100% as promised. It is first rack I ever purchased for a rear tire, as previous vehicles needed a hatch rack. Fits well and was easy to install. Only need a wrench or pliers. It is very sturdy but not too heavy. It works perfectly on my new tire cover (also purchased from AMZN earlier this year) without tearing it. You slip it on, figure out how to connect the straps (takes about 18 minutes) and you are ready to go. My item came with the additional rubberized "straps" to secure the bike to the rack. These are prefect and easy to hook and unhook. I use the extra length of the "tire straps" (they are longer and therefore you have about 2-3 feet of excess strap after connecting them as shown in the video.) This turned out to be a good thing as I use this excess to tie the bike to the rack for added support. The product video on the AMZN website and description does not state that there will be extra length of tire straps that will need to be tied, so they do not drag. I also lock the rack to the vehicle with a new cable lock so a thief does not take it since it does slip on and off with only a few adjustments to 2 bolts and releasing 3 tire straps. By the way I have a off-center rear tire but did not need to adjust or center the rack. I also did not need to take off the front bike tire. It only extended beyond the passenger side of the car by 6 inches or less.

Great option if you don’t have a tow hitch
I have a 2024 Defender without a tow hitch and needed a bike carrier. I bought this bike carrier two months ago and it’s worked great. It takes a little bit of trial and error to get the install perfect, but after the initial set up it fits well over the spare tire and is very stable. I’ve used it to transport my mountain bike at highway speeds and no issues at all. I would highly recommend.

FJ Cruiser - works a dream
This rack held a road-bike flawlessly on a recent 500 mile road trip including freeway, potholed city roads, and some mild (and slow) off-roading on the back of my 2007 FJ Cruiser. I was originally looking for a hitch mounted rack, but none of them appear to work easily for side-opening rear doors, especially those with door mounted spare tires. This Hollywood SR1 rack is just the job and is affordable to boot. 4* instead of 5* because of the strapping and rusting (described below), otherwise, super happy with a make-life-easier gadget that actually makes-life-easier for a change ! Love: *Fits over the (std) spare tire & cover. There was still adjustment to spare so would likely fit over bigger tire's too. *Can easily open the rear (sideways opening) door to get to dogs and luggage *Easy to load bike and secure, even for smaller people *Good Bike stability when on rack *Rubber hold-downs can be used to hold the racks bike-support arms to the rack when in the folded position to stop them "jiggering" about. *Bike and Rack don't obstruct rear view while driving (at least when on the FJ) *Folds away tidily and without obstruction when you have no bike (unlike those hitch racks I was looking at before) Could-do better: *The strapping: **It's not entirely clear how to use them all **I ended up crossing the rack rear-fitting straps to ensure they don't slip off - appears to have worked a dream. **There's a "lot" of strapping left hanging (that is conveniently hidden in the product photo's). turns out that they're good for tying up the frame and wheels to limit bike movement, but need tying up when there's no bike on the rack *As other reviewers have pointed out, the bolt starts to rust quickly *Need to remember to keep the right sized (or adjustable) wrench handy for rack removal in the event you actually need to use the spare tire for it's intended use.

Great on JL Wrangler Rubicon
This worked great on my 2020 JL Wrangler Rubicon. I did not need to switch to the included longer bolts, but I did need to loosen/extend them from the shipping position. There is still plenty of thread engagement at around 11 inches of gap. I am able to install and remove it by pressing on the 3rd brake light mount. There is enough flex in the mount to do that and I do not need to loosen the spare tire to install or remove. When properly installed, this rack is very tight empty, with one bike, and with two bikes. After getting the straps situated, I cut the excess and melted the remaining end. I left about one foot extra to make sure I had enough to grab and tighten. I tested opening the rear swing door with one bike attached and it works great. There is a bit more closing force needed than without, but it still opened and closed fine. Without any bikes and with the arms folded in, it's totally transparent. There is no obstruction to the backup camera or the rear parking sensors. I can highly recommend this to JL Wrangler owners.

We have a Toyota Rav4 and have struggled for some time to find and safe and secure way to carry bicycles. We were very hesitant to purchase and external carrier after a near disastrous event with a bicycle coming undone with a cheap Argos one a few years back. We ended up paying for a trailer hitch to be installed and bought a Daxara 3.5 trailer but the bikes do rattle about something terrible, and it took so long getting everything ready my husband was hesitant to take the bicycles on many occasions, so we finally decided to give this a chance thinking with Amazon's Generous return policy at least we could send it back if it was terrible. My husband says it did have instructions... but he did not read them, as he usually does not. It took less then ten minutes and my husband says would take less time to do again, but at the moment he is leaving it on as with the good weather it is getting a lot of use. We live in a bad area for theft, but thankfully this would be a difficult item to remove without a spanner making it more difficult to steal. If you do wish to take it off, it is is small and easy to store when disassembled, but very heavy. We use this for mountain bikes, which tend to be quite heavy, and of course one needs to go dirt or bumpy roads at times to get to the right places. The bikes feel absolutely secure and we have no worries on any type of road.. It will fit adult sized or child sized bikes, but sadly only two. Of course I can't complain as it is clearly advertised as this, and we knew it when purchasing. Our car does not have the rear wheel mounted in the centre as shown in the picture, but instead higher and to one side. This has not posed any problem and this honestly should fit any vehicle with an external rear wheel. The bikes are held very securely and well away from the vehicle itself so no worries of scratches or scrapes to the paint, which can happen with some traditional cycle carriers. I really couldn't be happier with this product. It was expensive, but considering the quality, I think the price was fair. It is worth paying a bit extra to know the bikes are safe and secure with no danger of coming undone and causing an accident, or damage to the bikes which have ended up rather expensive themselves. There is also the convenience factor. This makes it so much easier to take the bikes out. It is only a matter of seconds to securely clip the bicycles in place and we are good to go, and if we do want to, we can take the trailer as well, giving us room for all our camping gear and for the bikes.

Purchased this bike rack for my Jeep JL after calling our local sport rack store that told me that they didn’t have anything for my Jeep with backup camera that is on the spare tire. Really! I had no hitch so that wasn’t an option. After googling I found this rack. It’s great! It was easy to install and holds up to two bikes on the back of my Jeep. Don’t forget to purchase a lock at the same time.

Likes: feels sturdy and easy to install Dislikes: too heavy and paintwork is not really as good

Funktioniert am Defender mit 2 Rädern hervorragend. Schnelle Montage, alles super.
