desertcart.com: Highwild AR500 Steel Targets 3/8" Thick Metal Shooting Gong Target Set - 4", 6", 8" Gongs : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Very good quality! - Very good quality for the price! These can take up a bitting! I’m very impressed. Highly recommended!
Review: High Quality and a reasonable price. - These Target plates are high quality and have a very nice highly visible coating on them. The various sizes in this set allow a shooter to hone ones skill at different ranges. For the price you can’t really go wrong. Update: After having a chance to properly secure one of the targets (6inch), I took about 20 shots at it with a 223 Remington @ 100 yds. The velocity at point impact is most likely under 3000 fps due to the rifle only having a 1:12 twist rate. After approx 6 or 7 rounds, and my point of aim was established, I noticed that the target was starting to spall with deep inclusions some more than 0.050”. Most of the impacts are within the same area, but the earlier shots were lower on the plate and seem to have less deformation. I don’t think these plates are evenly hardened. They may be harder towards the outer edge than in the center. Only a Rockwell gauge will tell.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What makes steel targets a better choice than paper targets for practice?**
A: Steel targets provide instant audible and visual feedback when hit, helping shooters quickly confirm impacts without walking downrange. They are also reusable, making them a durable and cost-effective option for frequent shooting sessions.

**Q: What's the difference between AR500 and regular steel?**
A: AR500 resists denting and cracking. Regular steel can pit and cause ricochets. Our targets are laser-cut from 3/8" AR500 for safe, lasting use.

**Q: Can these targets be used for different types of shooting drills?**
A: Yes. The targets are suitable for a wide variety of shooting exercises, including accuracy training, target transitions, speed drills, and general practice. Multiple target sizes can help create different levels of challenge and training scenarios.

**Q: Can I hear the hit clearly?**
A: Yes. Each impact produces a sharp, satisfying "ding." You'll know instantly when you hit the target. No second-guessing, no walking downrange to check.

**Q: Is this target good for beginners?**
A: Yes. The clear "ding" feedback helps new shooters know when they hit — so you can focus on your aim, not your eyes.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended they worked great
*by K***Y on July 11, 2025*

I was very impressed with these. They held their shape very well with every shot and the only thing that made a dent was a 308 win round from about 10 ft away. But still no penetration. Made shooting very fun for everybody
