We had tried a few different products to get our old laptop to display on our TV and had started to loose hope. This item was our last ditch effort before giving up in the idea and much to our joy it actually works and does so well. Very pleased

Great but audio sometimes doesn’t work

Does what it say on the tin.....helps adapt your older PC, Server and Laptops with VGA outputs to very goo quality 1080p HDMI video output. To me then be used on more modem TV's or Monitors, as this self powering VGA to HDMI adaptor using the USB leads it clean, quick, simple to install and can be easily converged to a Digital Display Port (DP) port on you monitor, if one is free, only by using another HDMP to DP adaptor (not supplied). The builld qualaity looks solid and this is a very useful product.

Like some other reviewers, I wanted to connect a VGA-only to my workbench KVM so that I could swap between it and other machines. This does that. Picture quality seems very good - bearing in mind that it's VGA and through a KVM and to an older 2nd hand monitor via HDMI. Not a lot of noticeable difference from a connection that's DisplayPort to HDMI to be honest. Doesn't display bios screens: yes and no, it depends. This device is powered by the USB lead. If what you're connecting it to doesn't supply power to the USB port - which it may not until you get further down the boot process - you're not going to see anything. Plug the USB lead into another computer or even a phone charger and you get a picture even at bios level.

If your intended purpose is to view a BIOS screen of a computer that only has VGA (like on a Dell PowerEdge server) then this BENFEI VGA to HDMI Adapter may not do what you want. It does work on newer servers but not some older ones. And it works with some displays but not others. No matter what I tried, it would not worh with a Dell R510 until the operating system had loaded. Newer servers, x20 series, work but not with all monitors (even the same monitor where a direct VGA cable works). A machine and monitor where a regular VGA-VGA cable works MAY NOT work when used with the adapter into the HDMI port of the same monitor. I have had mixed results and am quite disappointed. This is not necessarily the fault of the adapter but the fact that it doesn't "just work" for any VGA signal is a disappointment. It does work once the machine is booted but that is not the point. You cannot rely on this to see the BIOS screen of the computer. I returned this item and bought another one by LINDY. That one worked, but with its own issues. But at least it displays the bios screens.

This cable with extra power for transmission was exactly what I needed, I just plugged it in and it worked perfectly.

Works with KVM Switches as well.

A seemingly simple, yet apparently rare adapter. Countless HDMI->VGA adapters, but VGA->HDMI adapters are hard to find. But when you need one to solve a problem, it's practically priceless. Dead simple to use, and worked the first time. At least for me. If you're in the situation I was in, trying to get different generations of gear to "play nice" with each other, this may be just what you're looking for. It was for me.
