Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Read-Aloud Treasury

I was very excited when I found this book. I have raddedy Ann and Andy dolls that are antiques and wanted to give them to my granddaughter for her birthday. This book allowed my daughter to be able to read stories about these two. I hated that the book was damaged!!!! I do not have time to return this book before her birthday party . The packaging was not damaged therefore I know it was damaged previous to packing!! I would like to add to my review. The book itself was absolutely awesome. It will be a wonderful addition to the dolls!!!! I also would like to give thanks to amazon prime! I decided to return the original book and in doing so the new book was at my home expeditiously!!!

We ordered these books to give as gifts to my 9 year olds' fellow cast members in The Nutcracker during the gift exchange at the cast party. They were all the gingerchildren in the 2nd act and their costumes looked just like Raggedy Ann dolls so we thought this would make a perfect gift. My daughter already owns both the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls, and also has all the stories, but I know that most do not know about the dolls and especially the stories. I was not sure if the stories in this book would suit these children's age ranges (8-9l, but it was perfect. We were all very pleased, and was also a good value, being a hardcover book with beautifully colored illustrations.

This beautifully illustrated library bound book gives the best of Raggedy Ann and Andy stories. My twin 3 years old grandchildren often bring this book out first to read. The book is only 6 months old and has the look of a “read many time” classic. It’s study, though, and can handle all the use it gets. The kids have even memorized some lines and say them at the right place in a stories. So much fun!

Just after I gave the book to my granddaughter, I read an article that talked of the importance of reading to children from birth! I had already given her Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls. Even though this is a newborn baby, as a great grandma I don't know how much of this precious child's life I'll be a part of and I wanted her to have something very special. The book is perfect. Nice long stories (but not too long) and lots of pictures. I'm very pleased. How wonderful to be able to give a gift to cover hours of cuddling and opening the door to imagination.

They are exactly what I expected

The book was purchased to accompany the Raggedy Ann doll as a baby gift. It is a classic story - a little long - so you will not be reading to really young children. The pictures are beautiful and the book is made of good quality paper stock.

This is to let potential buyers know of the contents of this book, since at the time of this review there was no mention of which stories were included, or even how many. The first page of the book includes a table of contents. There are ten short stories within: 01. How Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy Came to Marcella's House 02. The Nursery Dance 03. Raggedy Ann Learns a Lesson 04. Raggedy Ann and the Painter (the story where Ann gets her candy heart) 05. Doctor Raggedy Andy 06. Raggedy Ann's Trip on the River 07. The Taffy Pull 08. Raggedy Ann and the Strange Dolls 09. Raggedy Ann's New Sisters 10. The Singing Shell Each story begins with a full two-page spread containing a full page color illustration on the left; and on the right, the title of the story with a smaller illustration beneath it. Each story is about 4-7 pages long, with illustrations approximately every other page. I counted only four places in the book where there was not a picture on either the left or the right side, just text. All in all, I am quite satisfied I made the perfect purchase to introduce my daughter to the stories behind the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she just received for Christmas.

Made a perfect gift to go with a new set of Ann and Andy dolls also purchased on Amazon. Timeless stories, great pictures and a great buy for the money. My wive loves it as she has always loved the dolls, the book is a perfect accessory for them! I was not sure how big it would be, or how good the quality would be, but I could not be more pleased with it.

I love to read so I bought this for my granddaughter. I think she will really enjoy it as she grows.
