Magnetic works great my phone does not move

This review is for Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter Magnetic Socket - Low Profile Portable Magnetic Car Vent Mount for Smartphone Product works exactly as advertised - used to replace the clamp mount after if failed. Pros: Has never let my large screen, heavy smart phone accidentally come off the mount. Adhesive on mount holds very well - be sure to clean surface of phone case before mounting. Cons: Does not always keep it's position on the mount (mount is designed to stick to their steel ball system, and the phone sometimes self adjusts the angle when driving if you hit bumps). Where I have it mounted, this causes the power cord to put undue pressure against the power port on the phone (bottrom of phone rests against the dashboard when this happens). Side note: Cannot be used as a middle piece between the ball mount and a flat metal plate on your phone case. I had initially wanted to just put a metal plate on my phone case - put this on the vent mount ball and let the magnet be the middle piece that held it all together. However, the design of the mount ensures the magnet is just far enough away from the adhesive side that it does not have enough magnetic properties on the adhesive side. In retrospect, I believe this is a good thing as a strong magnetic field right up against your phone would probably interfere with the phone's various sensors and antennae.

Hands down the best car mount. I drive over 100k miles a year for work. It has never fallen off no matter what state i am in and what state the road condition. Always reccomend this product

I use this when I work out so I can just stick my phone to my steel power cage. It works great, but be advised: the magnet is strong. When you pull the phone off the cage, the magnet pulls off the plate you stick to your phone case and stays on the cage. The only way to keep the magnet attached to the phone case is to slide the phone off the side of the cage rather than pulling it. I want to be able to just pull it off, so I bought a 3 dollar case, super glued the magnet directly to the case, and now I just switch out cases when I'm working out. Works great.

I have bought several of these magnets from Steelie brand and they have been exceptional! To attest to the strength of the magnet, I accidentally left it on the roof of my car while I drove somewhere. The phone didn’t even budge. I stick it everywhere metal is accessible. On my pole, my fridge, my car, my microwave; EVERYWHERE THERE IS REAL METAL! Only downside, I had to glue the magnet to my dash and glue the oribital plate onto my phone case. It sucks that I can’t just use the adhesive that comes with the product, but the versatile options makes this 4 stars out of 5.

Works well and as intended

Love this product. Very durable and strongest dash holder I’ve ever had. I travel thousands of miles and this has been the best phone holder by far.

Very good and quality item

Great improvement over the regular Steelie in my opinion. Flat disk can even be sandwiched between a (thin) case and the phone without using adhesive. Only issue so far is getting the alignment right. Magnet is very strong and will grab even when not lined up, which can cause an alarming shift on position - sometimes when nudged, it appears to be falling, but is just the magnet getting a better "grip" on the disk. Phone and disk easily pull away when wanted, without taking the magnet with it. No more change or keys stuck to phone in pocket...!

Having the magnet on the back of my phone has never been an issue for me although I know some people are dead against it. After getting a new case that wouldn’t allow for the magnet I decided to take the leap and switch to using the newer system where you just have a metal plate on the back of the phone and the magnet stays on the ball. Still means I can use my pedestal stands and car ball mount ( I bought two) but I do miss not having the magnet on the phone so I can attach it to metal objects. Overall I say this is a good way to transition to a more sleek solution without giving up your old steelie accessories.
