Did the job and more.
I had to replace a 3 speed motor in a 20" Lakewood box fan with a one speed motor. I used this device to vary the speed. I had to be creative with the mounting as the device was made to be installed in a electrical wall switchbox. An unavertized feature of the device was a low speed fine adjustment.I was able to fine tune the exact low speed I wanted when the knob is tuned all the way to "LOW".

Silenced a noisy range hood.
The replacement fan motor for my 30 year old Nutone range hood was slightly larger than the original and had far more capacity than needed. It was extremely loud on both high and low speeds. I left the original wiring intact and placed the KBWC-15K, 5amp controller between the house wiring and the two-speed range hood switch. I set the speed control to low and turned on the range hood switch to low. Then with a minor adjustment to the minimum speed screw I set the fans minimum rpm to a reasonable level. Now, I leave the range hood switch on low and run the fan with the Vari-speed since it has a built in on-off switch. Alternately, I can leave the Vari-speed in a medium-low position and just use the range hood switch as before, but it's actually nicer to use the Vari-speed knob. Easy to wire, works as advertised, no RF interference or humming. Wires could be a little longer.

Works for fireplace remote blower
I used this for a remote fireplace blower that draws hot air off a gas fireplace insert. The remote blower that came with the Mendota fireplace only had a ON/OFF switch and when the remote blower operated it was very noisy. This rheostat solved the problem and the 120v blower is quiet operating at about half speed. The knob is functional but not of high quality. Your mileage may vary.

Vari-Speed for AC blower
This speed controller is 5A-and it does a good job of controlling the speed of my AC blower. I had been trying to use a dimmer controller, butit would not keep the speed regulated and the motor would run hot. So far this Veri speed is just what I wanted from low to high speed. Even though the motor is just over 1 amp I figured it wouldn't hurt to go bigger in amps when buying the Veri Speed. This allowed me to configure a double plug and now I can use it for something else as long as I don't exceed the 5 amps. I don't know yet what all it will run, but even if not another fan-- it works good for this blower. It's good to be able to control the speed because now I can also control the sound and amount of air.It's very easy to wire up.
