Sticks.1 Workout DVD

Not terrible, but not really amazing either.

Only reviewed once. Still like the Pound video best.

i take pound and wanted something i could do if i did not take a class. could not find a pound dvd except as a kit if you want to buy the pound sticks. started to watch the dvd but it is nothing like what i do in pound class. the music is way too zen-like. need music with a good beat to get a good workout with. i would not recommend it for anyone who truly wants a good workout.

I've been an avid home-exerciser for years and I think I've found another favorite instructor to add to my collection. I first found Step.1 and ended up buying the rest of Carolyn's workouts because I enjoyed it so much. Sticks.1 is really unique and I love Carolyn's use of dance and combat moves here and it's so much fun to play with the sticks. There's nothing else like this out there. It does take a little getting used to, but it's so worth it to learn it. And talk about an intense workout--this workout is super high energy and REALLY gets your heart pumping. And the music is also energizing and fun. At first I was a bit put-off by having to find or make the sticks, but it was so easy to do. I just bought some light wooden dowels at the hardware store and wrapped them in silicone/electrical tape. You could also use the tape that wraps tennis racket handles. It took all of 5 minutes to make them and it was very inexpensive and worth it just for this workout. But I've even used my sticks during my Afro-Brazilian dance classes and my Zumba classes. This workout is a bit more intense than Step.1 (which is also pretty intense) so I save it for my high-energy days. I also love the mini-mixes for when I don't have time to do the whole workout. With the mini-mixes it's like you get three workouts in one. Again, the production quality could be better, but it's nothing that detracts from the workout for me. Definitely highly recommended!

I was really excited to try this one because it uses little martial arts-type sticks and of course it's fun brandishing weapon-like objects.I love the music -- I think Carolyn did her own music and she did a great job -- very fun and lively. She uses fun, not necessarily complex footwork but also not for beginners -- if you are a more advanced exerciser you will know the moves she says and keep up well enough. For me it will take a few times to master the moves but I kept up well enough most of the time.I LOVE playing with the sticks. Not only do I feel like a tough cookie brandishing sticks but they also make a satisfying clacking noise when you tap them together.Overall this is a fun workout and it will get your heart rate up if you give it all you've got. It's challenging choreography-wise so it's for intermediate or more advanced exercisers. I recommend it if you want something a little different and if you like swinging sticks around like I do.

A great buy. I wanted to mix things up a bit after trying the Silvernail Studio step aerobics video so I decided to try this DVD. This workout is unlike anything I have ever done before. I was a bit intimidated by working out with sticks, but the instructions are easy to follow and I was up to speed within a few minutes. This certainly a new way to workout and a great idea if you want to try something a little different.
