Absolutely loving this book so far. It is extremely informative and not overwhelming with information ( as much as I want to learn, too much too soon can be daunting). Great pictures and I love that the pages are glossy. This a hardcover made to last.

Item arrived on time, well packaged, no issues. Item was purchased to help indulge my interest in Geology along with being used to accent my "Blockhead" collection of assorted odds and ends (see photos). Item is "hardback" that contains color photos, color graphics, color illustrations and a Glossary in the back which gives a detailed, in-depth description of all of the samples discussed in the book. Basically, it is an Encyclopedia about Rocks & Minerals ! There's a lot of information about "Rocks" in this book..."Chuck".

I’m new to Geology but wanted to know more about how the landscapes of the American south west were formed and how the huge variety of rock types are found in close proximity. This book does a great job of explaining the history of the earth and the myriad geological processes that form the landscapes we see today. Lots of clear photos and tips for the beginner to help identify rock types. Weekend trips into the foothills take on a new focus as we can start to understand how it’s made!

This is a black and white book which is not great for looking at rock color.

I’ve always enjoyed rock hunting but never knew much about what I was picking up. Now getting into rock tumbling and wanted to learn more about various rocks and how to identify them. Having a good time reading through this, and looking forward to using it as I travel around the country while camping. Very pleased with purchase.

Well designed book. What drew me to this purchase over other books was that it describes geographical areas where certain rocks are likely to be found. It is also minimally more expensive for a hard cover book, in-depth information and considerably more pages of both photos and details.

I bought this book because for many years I have studied crystals and geology It is the perfect companion For the more expert geologist or a standalone book for someone who hasn’t read a lot about rocks and minerals Each page has good clear photos and lots of information about the minerals or rocks This book is more than a coffee table book I would recommend it to anyone starting out with the interest in this field or to somebody who wanted to add another book with extra information to the collection Nice quality hardback book good value for money
