bought for granddaughter for birthday. she has been playing for several years and is also in a local orchestra.

I gave this 2 stars because the way it is formatted and written. This reads like a very dry operating manual for a newly bought refrigerator, void of emotion and presented in a card board cut out manner.The facts of the book come in unformatted waves with an inclusion of foreign language excerpts that lack a supporting translation. I would use this as a raw facts cache, finding certain parts to take for later study if you can find them in this mess. It is as if someone decided to place facts everywhere but didn’t bother to organize it with quotes running into new paragraphs without proper transitional flow for the readers to follow.
