I saved thousands fixing my AC
If your Camaro AC/heat has unexpectedly stopped working like it used to, itโs possible your blend door is broken. I learned this a fairly common problem with Camaros because the blend door actuator is putting out too much power when moving the blend door which snaps the corner of this plastic piece. I brought my Camaro to 2 different mechanics who told me it could cost around $2-3k to remove my windshield and go in thru the top of my dash to replace this piece. I knew there had to be another way so I found a YouTube tutorial by 737mechanic showing every step taken to replace this piece with just a few tools and a couple hours of your time. Lo and behold, my blend door was indeed broken on the corner. Iโm amazed at how easy and simple it was, and incredibly happy that I saved thousands of dollars. This item was a perfect fit for my 2012 RS, plastic was not flimsy and seems like itโll last a good while.

What an experience.
My 2012 Camaro SS was plagued with the same issue all 5th gen Camaros have, the blend door breaking. And while this door only cost $20, labor to replace it at the dealership is north of $3k because "the book" tells them they have to remove the windshield, and the dash to do it. Well that simply isn't true, but the alternative way is still pretty wild. There are plenty of videos showing how it's done on that famous you video tube website. Basically, you need this door (there is also a guy online that makes them out of aluminum for about $80), and a hot-knife (i used the one suggested to buy with this item). Remove your driver seat, be careful with the plug for it, and find a way to get comfortable, have light, and be able to reach an assortment of tools you'll need for this small but invasive procedure. As I said, watch the videos, a few of them. It's really not difficult after you do one and learn the methods and steps to remove everything, get access to what you need to work on, perform the procedure, and reinstall everything. In my case the door hadn't completely broken, but was cracked, deformed, and wouldn't have lasted much longer at all before it broke. This is a known flawed design that those of us who love our cars just take in stride. Now that I've done it, I could do the next one in a couple of hours. I could do mine again in less time because I have modified the car's ac system so it's now easier to get apart. I did deduct one star because delco didn't do anything to make the stress point of this product any stronger. It is oem quality, but could easily have been improved in the manufacturing stage to insure the failure doesn't occur again.

Correct OEM replacement, Actually replacing it is another story
This item was an exact, direct replacement for the original. The design was identical and the overmolded rubber seal seemed identical. This is an important feature because some sell these without the rubber sealing. If yours broke before, this design in the same, so per "internet wisdom" be sure to get an OBDII computer and "reset/calibrate" your HVAC control doors. My original door lasted double the life of most, but I had changed the battery a few times and suddenly i needed a new door. I suspect battery changes may uncalibrate the door. It was also quite a mission to cut an access port in the side to change the door. Otherwise it is a $4500 repair to remove the dash and possibly the windshield. Don't go to the dealer for this one...

The Infamous Gen5 Blend Door
2012 camaro. If you know you know. Replaced on my own and my climate control is back in order. 3 years later and I'm seeing small signs that this one is going bad too because passenger side air is currently colder than drivers.(factory one took 10 years to break)... I could be wrong though. Will update if I have to replace again but I'm 3.5 years post purchase and still going.
