Good gift idea!
The Game Club kids liked playing this. It was a game that simple for the younger ones to play but still provided fun for the older ones. It is good quality. I like that there are plastic pieces instead of bases and cardboard characters.

Best Candy Land!
Thank goodness this product exists. I was so annoyed at all the modern Candy Land games with horrible graphics and poor quality. This board is sturdy, the pieces are well made and the graphics remind me of the original game which I grew up with. Don't buy anything else!

Just like the version i grew up with.
When I was a preschooler in the late 70's, my grandmother used to spend a lot of time playing board games with me, most often Candyland. I have such fond memories of this game, specifically the 60's-era edition gameboard we played on. When I had kids of my own, I wanted to continue the tradition of playing board games and spending quality focused family time together. Buying Candyland for my 3-year old seemed a logical first board game, except -- A friend brought over a copy of Candyland made a few years ago and I didnt even recognize the game. The board was flimsy and the graphics were not like I remembered. I was discouraged, until I stumbled upon this anniversary edition of the game. I ordered it and crossed my fingers. Well, when it arrived, playing this game took me back in time. My son picked up the basic rules pretty quickly and won tje first 3 times! It's funny how a simple graphic like the image of the floating ice cream slice or the gumdrop mountains can be so etched in ones brain, but while we were playing it was as if I had been transported back to 1978 and was sitting on my grandma's shag carpet next to the schnapps credenza. Whew! Candyland anniversary edition gives me nostalgia chills! Ok, back to business --- Pros -- sturdy, old-school style game board, easy-to-understand first game for ages 3 and up, instant nostalgia for older players Cons -- Gameboard may seem bland or dated to any adult players under 40, though very young kids probably won't even notice.

Simple
Colorful and easy for children to play! There are four gingerbread men! The colors are, green, red, blue and yellow! The cards are a bit slick ( if that makes sense) to handle! Simply put cards and men’s under the board in the box and tuck away!

I got them this and they love it. I was expecting more of the 1980 ...
My daughters are just getting into games. They are in kindergarten and preschool. At school they play lots of games. I bought them a candy land at a store and it had a spinner instead of the cards which was cheaply made and wouldn't stay together. It was a smaller board and I ended up just tossing it. They are playing lots of games in school now and have started begging to play games at home every day. I have been on the hunt to get them some of the classics. But I wanted them to be how I remember them. and good enough quality to hold up well. I got them this and they love it. I was expecting more of the 1980 edition that had princess Lolly and the other characters but this is good. The board is good thick quality but the cards are so slippery my 4 year old has a super hard time picking one up and they slide everywhere. Over all very satisfied. I prefer this over the new one that turned queen frostine into a brat doll. Worth the extra money. I have actually recommended this to other moms that have boys because they have tried candy land with some of them and the new one looks to much like a "girl game". This is a much more unisex option.

Such a great game for kids. Purchased for my kindergarten class, they constantly fight for who gets to play it first!

I remember this game from my childhood and so bought it for my 3 year old grandson. It is a family friendly game with a simple concept for little children to understand and enjoy. You pick a card from the deck which has a color on it and move your piece on the trail to the corresponding color. The Candyland trail is well imagined and colorful. There are some pratfulls but whoever gets to the end first wins.Something all ages can play together.

Great book and it works if you read it the correct way. Probably best from 4 yo and up.
