great swim training gloves- maybe size down when purchasing.
These do run large, so perhaps order a size down. I have small hands and definitely could have ordered an even smaller size (if it exists). I am using them for swim training and when I am in my aqua fitness class and they work great and are holding up very well with the heavy chlorine in the pool that I go to. I kept the ones that were technically too large for me because they cover my entire hand and actually work well to make a lot of resistance in the pool.

Speedo swim gloves
Good swim gloves that give excellent resistance when swimming. It does not withstand the chlorine for long - fades after a few months and I am expecting it to start disintegrating shortly. I swim every other day and figure I'll go through 2-3 pairs/year. This is my second purchase in less than a year.

I also find these gloves very useful. Additionally
The five stars are for probable durability. I also find these gloves very useful. Additionally, my return was handled extremely efficiently. Fit/size: I can see 4 potential issues with getting the correct size in these gloves. How wide is your palm (most important). How thick is your wrist (somewhat important). How long are your fingers (mostly unimportant). How thick are your fingers (mostly unimportant). This following size chart (from the Speedo site) addresses palm width: AQUATIC FITNESS GLOVES SIZE CHART S M L XL 8.0cm 8.5cm 9.0-9.5cm 10.0-10.5cm Note: Width: Measure horizontally across the palm. (Although my palm is about 9.5cm across, squarely in the Large category, this size would have been to large for me.) This criteria for fit is the most important. If the gloves are too large in the palm, they will feel loose on the hand. I purchased two pairs of Speedo swim training gloves, one XL and one M, for my wife and I. I returned the XL, partly because they were too big and loose on the body of my hand. I now use the medium size purchased for my wife. This pair is also a bit loose. This becomes especially evident when swimming. I think the wet material tends to stretch, fill with water, and they feel like they balloon out a bit. I have fairly small wrists. For the fit, this somewhat/slightly important. I think the size of the wrist opening and the position of the velcro closure is related to the glove/palm size; i.e. XL has a larger wrist opening than the Small size. Not only do my Medium sized gloves seem a bit too large on the palm, I feel like, in order to keep the glove on my hand, I should adjust the velcro closure to the minimum aperture size. (two downsides to this adjustment: the velcro makes limited contact and the excess strap flops around on every stroke). Length of fingers: I have not found it useful to make a size comparison to other kinds of gloves. I have what I think of as large to very large hands (at maximum spread, tip of thumb to tip of little finger = 23.5cm). It is difficult for me to find work gloves that fit. I have (literally) tried on many hundreds of pairs of work gloves. When gloves do fit, they are almost always XXL size, and even those are often too small. I own about 10+ pairs of winter gloves, all XL and XXL. Perhaps the difficulty is long fingers? (middler finger, right hand = 9cm). While fit is critical for me with gloves with fingers, it is not an issue with with the Speedo fingerless swim gloves. Whether my fingers protrude from the gloves .5", or 1.5", does not seem to substantially affect either comfort or function. Size of the finger holes: the finger holes on these medium gloves are also a bit too large for me. This seem to affect the way the gloves function: a strong forward stroke seems to push back the material around the edge of the finger, creating resistance. Also: water seems to enter the glove around the fingers, creating more resistance. However, I do not find this a problem. I have to work harder against the resistance, and that is why I am using the gloves. Durability: I have used these about 10 times while swimming and snorkeling in both ocean, and pool. I have not noticed any wear issues. Note: These gloves may not help you swim faster. I have noticed, especially when snorkeling, that the greater surface area these gloves provide does seem to give me more power, at least for a few hard strokes. When swimming laps, the greater resistance makes me work harder (which is good, right?), but it does not increase my overall speed. Indeed, my time for ten laps increases. When I remove the gloves, however, it feels like I can fly through the water. (neighboring swimmers have assured me that this was not the case).

BRILLIANT for getting the most out of pool time / water therapy!
A water aerobics instructor who helps me with my water therapy introduced me to the water gloves instead of using the water weights because the gloves are far more versatile and much easier to transport in my gym bag. Initially I had preferred the water weights that I'd used at the Y and Golds Gym however since everything was closed I was only able to do my water therapy at a private pool - thankful for terrific friends in a gated community! My friend has a number of sets of these gloves in different sizes and different brands. Out of all of them we tried, my husband and I both preferred the Speedo gloves. Since I'm a 2XL gal, I like these gloves in Large. My 2XLT husband loves the XL size since he has a really horrible hand injury that's never healed properly - he's finally able to get pool exercise without his hand throbbing quite as much. I have a really bad leg situation, bad enough I feel like a beached whale when on land. In the water though, I'm finally able to move so I'm regaining such much missed flexibility and strength. These gloves are really awesome to improve both my arm strength and endurance. They are stylish enough that quite a few people have been asking me about the gloves, trying them out and saying they plan to get their own set. I can't sing their praises enough - well built and reasonably priced. I recommend to wash the gloves out thoroughly after using and lay or hang them up to air dry as they do retain quite a bit of pool water. They hold up well to use in the swimsuit water extraction machine available at some gyms, too.

Helps eliminate Spinal Pain until you build more muscle
Love these swim gloves. In combination with my pool fins, they help keep my body more aligned and take the pressure and strain off my lumber, thoracic and cervical spine areas, by helping to keep my legs from dropping and dragging too far down in the water. You would think swimming would be a no pain sport, but if you are out of shape and have an aging and/or damaged spine, you can find yourself in need of a heating pad the next day or even two weeks until you build more muscle.

Poor quality
I'm very disappointed in these gloves, I expected better from Speedo. They were bought in August in started falling apart in November. I kept using them for another month but the material is shredding and peeling and I now have big holes all over the gloves. You may as well buy a cheap brand; I'm sure they will fall apart as well but at least you're only out $10 instead of $25.

Excellect gloves, size runs a little large
Ordered a set of these to replace the worn out set of TAGVO gloves I was using and I'm glad I did. Even though they're twice the price of similar gloves, they have a much larger surface area and a rubber palm which adds much better water resistance. The velcro strap is a bit longer than the cheaper ones, but still not very adjustable. I have big hands so I ordered a Large, but the gloves run a bit large in size so the wrist is still pretty loose and can come off when swimming. I thought about returning them to get a Medium, but I figured out a better solution: I just ordered a couple 8" self-tightening velcro straps with plastic buckles that I can wrap around my wrist to keep the strap on good and tight and it does the job without the strap coming loose. These are much better quality gloves than the cheaper knockoffs and if you're willing to pay more for better resistance, I highly recommend them. Just be warned that they tend to run a bit large.
