Excellent smart trainer with free app
TACX is the only trainer company that provides an App where you dont have to pay a monthly subscription if you are only going to use Workouts and not online video rides. The trainer is very easy to setup. Very easy to create a do workouts. Very Quite and looks good too.The actual video (not simulated) courses are great. It allows you to ride in France or Switzerland or Italy with actual video.

User friendly setup
Out of the box and ready to go. Took more time to tear down the boxes then to set up.**Buyer beware**. You have to install the rear cassette yourself so make sure you know what you need and that includes the tools to do it.

Tacx Flux S
Initial Review:I had purchased a Kickr Core that smelled like belt chemicals (it was abating a bit by the time I returned it) and had a flywheel that was causing massive vibrations. In Wahoo's defense I think they were eventually going to take care of me but I simply returned that one to REI with the description of the massive flywheel vibration. Now onto the Tacx Flux S - I am a pretty novice rider (190lbs) with probably a 180-200W FTP. The Tacx Flux S seems just fine on an 11-28 cassette for me. Sure if I was replicating steep mountains on a different Cassette than this is not going to do it. The Core could easily overpower me at 100% difficult on Zwift (say up a 15% hill in a 28T gear is going to end up with a REALLY SLOW cadence). The Good:Amazingly stable and I have it on a Rocker plate. It just feels like it was made for this setup. The Flux feels consistent from hill to hill almost like the device is laser focused on measuring your output and concerned with nothing else. Very Quiet (just as quiet as the kickr until you get the flywheel really going) and the Flywheel is perfectly balanced with literally zero vibration in the whole device. Seems very well built with everything fitting together with precision unlike the Kickr Core. I get the feeling like it is going to rock on any ERG mode despite some reviews saying otherwise. I will post back when I try it. Does not overshoot sprints like my wheel on-trainer (neither did the Core). The Bad or at least not so good:The actual ride feel compared to the Kickr Core feels a bit sticky (same impression that GP Lama had actually but less so after more miles actually see my update below) and if anything caused me to return this one it would this fact. It does not seem to let go on downhills in quite the same way where you can spin up a big fly wheel. In fact part of me wonders if they purposely did this to make it feel like a baby Tacx Neo (tried one in a store) but without the downhill hill acceleration. A little slower to react to resistance changes than the Core but nothing to stress about.Overall: 4 stars factoring in price, it works exactly as described. In fact it caused me to push pretty hard on the bike. That being said I am sort of bemused on the state on direct drive trainers in this price bracket (maybe I need to spend more). What I really want is this exact trainer with the ride feel and responsiveness of the Core. Personally I might be tempted to go with Wahoo again but a couple of specific things like how well it works with my Rocker Plate and overall precise feel of it are going probably going to make me keep it for 2-3 years here. The fact that is the cheapest direct drive trainer in the Market despite being built in the Netherlands mitigates a lot of this as well. The fact that it actually came out of the box fully functional without defect helps. I think I would love a Saris H3 but it was the most expensive and would not fit on my existing Rocker Plate. I also don't really want to try yet another trainer in the middle of a Pandemic.10+ more Rides Update:Loving it more actually and I did some ERG work. I think the ERG work helped me understand some really small limitations around the trainer. The bottom of the power range is limited as well. So that impacts its ability to for lack of a better word "let go" in downhills. Once I shifted down (easier gear in downhill) which slowed the flywheel everything feels like a downhill should. In other words if you wanted a more realistic indoor training experience I think a Neo would be the way to go... but its costly.Everything else is rocking as well. It might be breaking in a little because it feels smoother or maybe I am just getting used to it (less like grinding through sand, perhaps some online testers did not really put enough miles on it). I am liking it more every time I ride. The hill limitations on a bike with a low gear of 34-28 at my power are just not important. It feels very quick to respond to sprints (as fast as the Core felt) and faster than the Kickr Snap at gradient changes. The gradient changes are smoother and more realistic feeling then the Core, it just feels like the road in some ways where ones inertia makes little hills smooth. Can't speak to long term reliability yet but the initial quality seems great and unless I improve my FTP by 30 or 40% I think it will have enough power for a long time even at my weight (which would likely get 20 lbs lighter if I improved FTP by that much unless I ate a lot of cookies). I would say if you are heavy (I weigh 190) or powerful I would probably go with the Flux 2 just to get some more flywheel control in there. For me it was not worth worrying about at this point and I am loving the trainer. I am keeping it a solid 4 stars. Unless I have some other revelation I will probably leave the review untouched.

Works great!
After multiple surgeries and several months of being laid up my strength and stamina have dropped to a low intermediate level. Combine that with covid and my ability to go on long bike rides has taken a nosedive. This trainer is helping me build myself back up for when it is convenient to ride in the country again. It's quiet, doesn't bother anyone else in the house. In fact the only noticeable noise is when my chain rubs on my front derailleur. I spend a lot of time in my low gears now-a-days. If you want a wheel-off trainer and you're not a pro-level rider I think you'd be happy with this one.

Not ready out of the box
Truly too bad they don't state this anywhere, as had I known I would have ordered at the same time. The trainer is not ready out of the box, but requires an additional cassette and tools for install, in addition to having terrible instructions. Very very frustrating, and wish the description had stated that there were additional components/compatibility with different cassettes prior to it arriving.

You will need cassette spacer rings if you are using a shorter cassette
My bike has a 7-gear cassette so I purchased an SRAM 7-gear cassette. But it is shorter than the 11-cog standard so I used two 3mm cassette spacer rings (AEcreative - 5 thicknesses, 2 of each) – they go on the trainer-side of the hub - see photo. Everything should snug up when installed. Mount the bike and chain, and you are all set. I am totally pleased with the Tacx S. I am doing hard and easy workouts using the power measurement, cadence, and speed as performance parameters, setting goals and testing my progress. A great investment!

Solid over-achiever!!
Love love love!! Hard core cyclist & structured training triathlete. 90% of all rides on trainer in ERG mode. Been using for 60-days (600 virtual miles/ 40hrs) & the trainer is solid, accurate & responsive. I also have other power meters to verify. This thing is awesome. No regrets. Plug & play!! Can handle my sprints (1100 watts & 170lbs). Thank you TACX!!

Sehr gut

Great entry level trainer
I am not a road cyclist and needed a smart trainer to start Zwift’ing to cross train. There was a bit of setup with having to purchase a cassette separately, but after that it was simple and has worked perfectly for me. I have put 1,400 kms on it to date and have absolutely no complaints. Perfect trainer for those looking to spend a bit less than the premium models.

Bon produit, simple d'utilisation (montage, configuration)
