does it work with chemex?

I’ve bought the size 3 to use with my 8 Cups Chemex and out of the 100, only about 5 collapsed and only because they were misplaced. So with that being said, I thing 10 bucks for 100 filters is better than 40 dollars to get the branded ones.

What’s tabbed vs non-tabbed? The tiny thumb and index finger grabber at the top of the filter!?

The tabbed filters stick together, because they are smoother on the inside hence the need for a tab to easily to pull it open. The non-tabbed have a texture on the inside the same as the outside of the filter. I personally prefer the non-tabbed because the drip time is different on the new tabbed ones. I can still get the non-tabbed on Hario's website. It's really just a matter of preference. You may notice a difference in the taste of the brew.

Are these paper filters treated with chemicals? I want to find toxic free coffee filters, hopefully, this is the one!

As far as processing goes, these are as minimal as they come. they're unbleached. Impart no flavors and are so durable you can reuse them (I've had to on occasion while camping). There are other options out there if you're concerned though. Several companies make hemp filters, one gal on etsy will even make them to custom fit your specifications. There are also metal options as well. I'm not sure what you mean by "toxic" though. They're made for hot extractions and are natural paper filters. Coffee folk tend to be a mite picky when it comes to off flavors in our coffees. What specifically are you concerned about? From the Hario website: (http://www.hario.jp/faq.html) "Our goods do not contain any harmful chemicals."

Has Hario changed filter paper?

I learned, through a YouTube video, that there are 3 different types of white Hario V60 filters being sold by Hario these days, sold in three different types of packaging. The original un-tabbed filter with the thinner paper and faster drip time is made in Japan, sold in a box, and is available only in the 40 count size. All other sizes come from one of the other two factories that are currently making Hario filters. The "crinkly bag" package of tabbed filters is made in a different factory in Japan. It's the one labelled "flexible." The material is thicker and the brew time is longer. A third kind, also tabbed, sold in shrink-wrap, is made in the Netherlands. Its brew time is longest of the three. If you're looking for the original un-tabbed filter, buy the box of 40.

Get the number three size if you’d like a mug of coffee

Absolutely the best coffee device I’ve ever purchased. Pour overs make very weak coffee. This allows it to steep for a while before releasing it into your cup. Only mistake I made is I bought a size number two which is too small for a mug. I exchanged it for number three, which is perfect.

Fits like a glove, guarantees a good cuppajoe

They work perfectly with my Hario plastic V60. The design and size of them are perfect as they are both made by the same company. The water flow is precisely what you need to make a perfect cup of coffee. The price point seems pretty fair to me given the high count you get. I get no flavor - paper or otherwise- from them after cleaning them with hot water before making my coffee.

Ich nutze diese Hario Filter nun schon eine Weile und bin absolut überzeugt. Die Verarbeitung ist – wie von Hario gewohnt – sehr hochwertig. Das Wichtigste für mich: Der Kaffee schmeckt einfach toll. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich, dass die Filter absolut geschmacksneutral sind. Selbst wenn man das Papier vorher nicht mit heißem Wasser durchspült (was bei anderen Marken oft Pflicht ist), habe ich keinen Papiergeschmack im Kaffee feststellen können. Einziger Wermutstropfen ist der Preis, der im Vergleich zu Standard-Filtern etwas höher liegt. Aber für das Ergebnis in der Tasse nehme ich das gerne in Kauf. Fazit: Trotz des Preises werde ich sie definitiv wieder kaufen. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die guten Kaffee lieben.
