I have to hold it down in order to toast. It is now February of 2026 so it only lasted a little over a year. I'm pretty disappointed but it's not like I'm out a lot of money. I am disappointed though but other than that I really like this toaster. I recommend it for somebody who wants something small. I did end up reordering it. UPDATE 3/2026 I ordered a new one of these but then my old one started working again. It dawned on me that maybe there isn't enough weight in the toaster because I cut my slice of bread in half when I toast it to lower the calories. I should have mentioned in my review that this toaster does cook a little unevenly but all I do I put it on for very small amount of time on a very low setting. It pops up then I turn the piece to toast around in a different direction so that it will toast more evenly.
