Simply the best that exist today
EDIT 05/07/19: Sennheiser has officially released the new 1.26 firmware update yesterday. The update now includes a Turn Off button for the earbuds in the app (Settings) which fixes the battery draining issues!! I've tested it and it works perfectly. The update also contains bug fixes such as the transparent mode which now stays active when you get a call. 3 weeks later I still truly love with these buds. I've been using the buds for about a week now and I truly love them. These are my first true wireless earbuds and I've been studying what was on the market for months before making a decision because I wanted to be sure I invested in the right ones. And let me tell you, I certainly don't regret my purchase. The sound is INCREDIBLE and as a musician it makes all the difference. I could have gone for much cheaper earbuds but the sound would never have been the same. When you put them on for the first time you realise how bad your previous ones were compared to them. And I had the Sennheiser Momentum Free so not the the worse but the cable around the neck was annoying me and I wanted to go full wireless. The EQ is really good and can help you to achieve the perfect sound you like. I was aware of the battery draining issue and was a bit worried about it but I didn't think it was that bad. I'm using the buds from Monday to Friday on my commute to work (1 hour) and the battery lasts me for 3 days without charging the buds/case so I only need to charge it on Wednesday. You won't feel the battery draining issue if you use them daily. If you don't, I read that Sennheiser is going to implement a ON/OFF toggle in one of the next app releases and they have confirmed to me that although it's not confirmed yet, they are looking into it. They also have confirmed to me that if you turn the bluetooth OFF, the ear buds will automatically switch off after 15 minutes so it can already help. The transparent mode is amazing. It was the first time I've experienced that and I still can't believe how good and useful this function is. I basically never need to take the buds out until I don't need them for the day anymore. When someone is taking to me, I just double tap on the right earbud and it automatically pauses the music and activates the microphone. In fact, it picks the sound so well around you I can hear my keys jingle in my trousers pocket when I walk! I love the touch controls too, it takes a bit of time to get used to but no more than a couple of uses. It's pretty easy to remember and Sennheiser really have thought of the best way to implement them. You've got the option to turn the voice control off from the app which I did as I don't use it much and I no longer activate it by accident. The connection is really good although I've experienced a few drop outs. There is that spot at a train station where I wait for my train every evening where it's going to cut off a lot unless I move. I don't know whether it's caused by the crowds or other nearby devices but it's only at that particular spot which is weird. They will also cut off for about 1 second every time I walk past the security gates at local Sainsbury's. But it hasn't bothered me much and does happen very rarely. I think Sennheiser might fix that in the future as this product is still quite new on the market. The design of the buds is also something else that Sennheiser really have nailed. They are SO comfortable and I never had the impression they would fall out at anytime. They don't make you look like an insect from behind like the Bose SoundSport Free and the design has been thought and made to stay secure in your ear. You almost forget they are there and it's so amazing to be completely free of cables. I read that some people felt a discomfort after an hour use, I have too around the ear lobe at some occasions but in that case I just move them up slightly and it instantly feels better and I can carry on with my use without a problem. I'm so happy with them I literally can't wait to use them next. The price was also something that made me hesitate for a while and I initially thought of knocking 1 star down because of it but after using them properly for a week I just can't. The quality makes it totally worth it.

Sound quality is fantastic...but
I have a few decent quality wired and wireless headphones (Sennheiser Momentum 2s wired and wireless, Bose QuietComfort 35 II, B&O H6 and H7s) and these earbuds rank among them for excellent sound quality which is amazing for something so small. They fit perfectly in my ear and unusually the case allows for slightly larger than normal silicone tips to be fitted which isn't true of many other earbuds which have a more precise tailored fit. They both look and feel like quality items while the outer case textile finish is both distinctive and provides a practical and seemingly hard wearing non-slip grip. Offset against that are the few faults I'm experiencing: 1. Battery drains in the earbuds and case in roughly 3 days from fully charged to empty even if not being used. 2. Battery life of the earbuds started out at around 3 hours 30 minutes when new with the volume at 50% which although not brilliant is acceptable and something covered in most of the mainstream reviews so it wasn't a shock. However after just 6 weeks regular use the battery life is now hovering around 3 hours which looks ominous for long term use. 3. Smart Pause doesn't turn off. Earphones have been reset a couple of time without it making a difference. 4. Re-connection to a Bluetooth transmitter after initial setup fails regularly (roughly every 3 times) needing the pairing process to re-establish a connection. However this is not limited to these earphones alone as my Bose QC II require occasional re-pairing (about 1 in 20 times). Re-connection speed is fast and takes just a few seconds. Connection to smart phones is totally reliable though, never once losing connection or dropping signal. For all my above criticism and their limitations I am still happy with my Momentum True's although I may have to test our Sennheiser's warranty if the battery life continues to deteriorate as badly as they seem to have after just 6 weeks use. The apparent deteriorating battery life is the reason for 3 stars rather than 4. Reading back this review highlight some inconsistencies in my views and criticisms all offset for me by the superior sound quality. UPDATE: The constant drain of the earbuds while in the case is too annoying. I've seen more than once that despite them being in the case and not in use they activate and try and connect to devices with an active Bluetooth connection which can interfere with already connected devices. I am no longer happy with them.

Great quality sound, only the best from Sennheiser!!!!
I have to say the sound is excellent! One star down for the price, and the battery not being the best compared to others on the market. You can get other true wireless earphones for alot less that do sound good with more bells and whistles and better battery life, but would they sound like the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earphones probably not. For me it was out of the Sony WF-1000XM3 but what put me off was the lack of audio codecs on them as only having SBC & AAC and no water resistant at all, but does have great noise cancelling what the sennheiser dont have. Sennheiser have SBC, aptX, aptX LL, AAC and being IPX4 rated so has some water resistant unlike the Sony. But no noise cancelling what the sonys does best. So with that and the better sounding earphones coming from the Sennheisers along with great sound stage I went with what I believed to be better in my opinion. The fit of the earphones are great, alittle uncomfortable at first but your ears will get use to it. The charging case I have had little issues with it draining, more so when I used an 3rd party case to protect the original case the pull tab strap was on the button in the case, after moving the strap away from the button I had less of an issue with draining battery. If you are after the best sound quality from true wireless earphones that are on the market and can put up with the battery not being the best and some draining then the Sennheiser's are for you. If you care about battery life then maybe the Sennheiser's are not for you. I have been using the Sennheiser's app with my custom eq preset on the app on android. Along with poweramp with my custom eq. I am currently using the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5g, so I am taking avantage of the audio codecs on the Sennheiser's earphones. No lag on videos because its using the aptX / aptX LL codecs. When you see the sennheiser's being reviewed the reviewers are always using an iphone to test them. The iphones only uses AAC maybe SBC codecs as well, so the best audio codecs are not being used to there full potential. along with music being streamed to test them. High quality music files is to be used to get the best of of them is what I can say. *** UPDATE; I had some issues with my left ear bud not working at times after testing them more and same for the battery from the app showing 100% when my phone showing the buds at 10% battery?.. more battery drain to after an day fully charged without being used it shows green, then the next day less than 24 hours it would show orange hard to tell if they are charged and ready to go or not. If the battery drain issues was fixed by an firmware update man these would be the best of the best, they did sound amazing. I was running the newest firmware to. I did see that an newer version is coming let's hope better battery with no drain issues and same sound would be the best available for sure with added ANC. As from that I have returned them, and may go for the Sony WF-1000XM3 as they dont have as much issues going on like the Sennheiser's did have, but have to say the Sennheiser's had the best sound and still believe the Sony's wont sound as good. ***

Expensive, but amazing
Firstly, the sound is truly amazing. I say this after having used lots of good quality earbuds over the years, my latest being Shure 315s. These just blow them out of the water. I changed brands mainly to get rid of the cable with my Shures. And having used a cheap Bluetooth cable I tried using the original Shure plug in cable for a fairer comparison and the Sennheisers were still so much better. The background hearing function is very clever and seems to work really well. I decided pretty early on just to leave it permanently on. Will have to see how it works with tube announcements. The touch controls work fine but you have to watch what you’re doing with the right one. I inadvertently activated voice control a couple of times, which is something I never use. And actually also started dialling an Air BnB landlord by mistake, fortunately disconnecting before the call was made. I’ve not experienced (yet) any of the connection issues people sometimes report. In fact I went two floors up in my house and the buds still stayed connected. The one small issue I have found is poor connection with the app. But that’s a minor thing really as the app just provides essentially a fun (albeit very effective) equaliser and a bit of info on what your buds are up to, not much else. I found that, as people have suggested, putting them back in the case and thus switching them on and off appears to get round this issue. It seems a bit counterintuitive to have to put them in the case to turn them off as I will use these mainly for commuting and thought I’d leave the case at home. Will see how I get on and report back. It is a very beautiful little case, as is the packaging - well, basically they’ve copied Apple on that. One other thing - I’ve always used Comply tips with my Shures, and thought I would with these, but the rubber ones these come with seem fine. Will stick with them for now. Like others, I’m nervous about these popping out and getting lost, but actually if you do the little twist that’s recommended, they do stay in pretty well and I have smallish ears. But to sum up - you buy such things for the sound quality, right? In which case they’re worth getting. I do agree that £270 is a helluva lot (I could only get round it by asking my wife for them as a birthday present). But I can’t stop putting these in and thinking “ooo I haven’t listened to that favourite piece of music yet with these - I bet that sounds amazing...” And so far, it always has. UPDATE after a couple of weeks use: 1) The best thing I’ve discovered is that thanks to some leftovers from my Ultimate Ears days I have found that the Comply ‘400’ range fits these just fine - no need to try and track down the as-yet-hard-to-find recommended Comply tips, which are called ‘TrueGrip.’ I’d recommend you buy the TX400 ‘small’ as I’m not sure the mediums or larges would fit in the charger - or your ears, for that matter. And the wax guards will protect those large 5mm apertures on the earphones. 2) The ‘transparent hearing’ or background mic function is pretty effective so I now turn it off rather than keep it on. I also do find, like others, that even with the better-sealed Comply tips, background noise in places like the tube can be quite intrusive. Volume is decent though and combined with Comply tips it’s not a serious issue, I’d say. 3) To avoid making inadvertent voice calls you can just use the app to turn off the ‘access your voice function’ switch. Finally - one other slightly odd glitch I have found. When using Spotify, I find that if you pause the music by taking one of the earbuds out, then put it back in after more than a few seconds, Spotify freezes and needs to be restarted. Something that might be addressed in a future firmware update perhaps, Sennheiser?

Sound Perfect but let down so badly by Power Design
Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless In-Ear These earphones are best in class sound but let down by design. These would be 5 star if wasn't for earphones not being able to be turned off (Design flaw). I had 2 pairs and both pairs did the same, I thought it was broken on my first pair and because the sound was amazing I thought it was a fault and ordered a replacement. Turns out its by design so I ended up returning them. There was 3 reasons why I returned them: 1, I was using them on the plane and when i went to airport on my transfer, I was at the airport and no matter what i did it would not power on. There was power in the charging case as it was amber light, however It seems like I needed to plug the usb c cable in to kick them into life from a power source, portable power bank of 20000 mah didn't work. So I had a deadwood product. (Maybe it was because i was in a hot climate country - happened in thailand airport and bali.) I don't travel much but this frustrated me and i wanted to return them there and then. 2, When the charging case runs out of power the earphones are on inside the case, there was multiple times when I had my phone on me and got a phone call and there was no sound coming out of the phone, this was because the earphones automatically connected to my phone and the audio was going to the earphones. Frustrating to say the least as sometimes I would be in the car and would have to turn off Bluetooth manually. 3, App, This app is not great. Sometimes it would not recognise the earphones. I used on iPhone 7 and my pixel 3 XL. As sometimes you cannot connect to the app with the earphones you cannot enable features. ie Transparent Hearing mode, I know you can double tap right earbud but sometimes that didn't work, so the app was the other option. These earphones would be perfect otherwise for me. I used occasionally, walking and cycling. They fit in ear perfectly, sound perfect with that rich deep bass and mids and treble being so beautifully sounding. Video watching via Netflix, YouTube. No lag what so ever. No connection issues apart from the issue above with no power. Touch controls worked for me, I liked the hold for volume control. Triple tab to previous track was the only hassle one, why not let you choose double tap left bud to previous, double tap right bud to next track which would to be more logical to me. Case looks and feels nice and premium. Also the added feeling of superiority, when walking around and seeing people with airpods you chuckle to yourself knowing the sound quality on them are so bad. lol I sold my airpods as soon as I got these and now cannot go back to them as they do sound so bad compared to these sennheisers. This is one product that I am so disappointed with sennheiser as these could of been perfect. Its like the sound engineers did their jobs, but was let down by the power battery and app team. Sony just announce the Sony WF-1000XM3 in earbuds so they look promising. If they are anything like the wh-1000xm3 over ears headphones then we are in for a treat. However I must admit that I perfer the sound of my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Over-Ear Wireless Headphones. If these earbuds were around the £150 mark, I would be able to live with the above issues. But for £220 that's a no sir.

No regrets buying these
I looked at these for months, reading reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. I’ve had a few pairs of decent headphones so I’ve got an idea of what I’m expecting even if I wouldn’t call myself an expert. I liked the idea of true wireless headphones but wanted good quality sound without too much bulk, which seemed to be the challenge with true wireless. These seemed to be the answer, especially on sound quality, but a couple of comments about controls and battery drain issues held me back, especially at the original listed price. Anyway, when the price dropped a few weeks ago I pulled the purchase trigger and, to cut a long story short, I’m very glad I did. First off, the main reason for choosing these was the promise that the sound quality would be very good. Absolutely no disappointment there. I’m no audiophile but was truly blown away by how good these sound. Across all ranges, with different types of music and spoken word on podcasts it’s all great. There isn’t active noise cancellation but a good fit on the buds (4 sizes to choose from) gives very good isolation. I’ve used them a fair bit for phone calls and the sound was clear with people on the other end reporting that the microphone worked well for picking up my voice. The transparent hearing function works well though I still feel more comfortable taking one earbud out when talking to people or listening to announcements. The music pauses automatically when you do that anyway. From the point of opening the box they were easy to set up, and get connected. Other people have commented on the controls being awkward to use. I did have to read the (very simple) instructions but it seems pretty straightforward to me. You control music from the left earbud (tap to play / pause) and phone calls from the right one (tap to answer / hang up). Volume up by pressing on the right bud and volume down doing the same on the left. Skipping forward or back through tracks takes a double or triple tap but after you’ve got used to where they sit in the ear that’s straightforward and works every time. Although I’ve used them a lot in the last few weeks, I haven’t had them in for long enough at one time to fully test out the battery capacity. Probably just over 2 hours was the maximum I’ve used them for at one time, on a mix of phone calls and listening to music and there were no issues. Recharging when back in the case seems to work well. There was a firmware update shortly after I got them so possibly that has addressed the battery drain while in the case issues that others reported. Finally, there is the form factor itself. I am absolutely delighted with the move to true wireless. I have been surprised by just how much more comfortable everything is without the wires or connecting headband. I wouldn’t have thought it would make so much difference but it really does. They were very comfortable for that time period and I would have no concerns about keeping them in for longer. They also feel very secure with the twist insertion feeling intuitive and I’ve never had any concerns about them coming loose while walking or in limited running. My summary is that the experience of using the true wireless form factor has been a revelation. With these Sennheisers it doesn’t feel like I’ve given up on sound quality to get the benefit of the true wireless experience.

So much potential let down by critical issues
I love sennheiser. I have a set of their Hd800S's at home and wanted to get these as they are supposed to be the best sound quality you can get with true wireless headphones. At first, I loved them. They fit amazingly, they're comfortable, the sound quality is great, But they have two issues that unfortunately means I'll be returning them. Firstly is the battery drain issue. This was supposedly fixed in the latest firmware update but it absolutely is not. If you don't use these headphones for more than 48hrs. They Will be out of battery by the time you use them again. They seem to drain battery at quite a pace when not being used in the case. Meaning that you need to keep these on charge basically whenever you aren't using them or they will have no battery when you come to use them again. Secondly, there seems to be some distortion and crackling with longer high frequencies. Others on reddit have seen this. I contacted sennheiser, but they just said it was due to Bluetooth compression. Given as no other decent bluetooth headphones have this issue that simply isn't true. These headphones for the most part (aside from the high pitch crackling issue) sound AMAZING. but the issues are a deal breaker for me. Hopefully version 2 of these will be worth the money

These could be the ones!
As a music-loving 'not quite an audiophile' I've been on the hunt for the perfect set of truly wireless earphones for me for a good while now. Here are my thoughts on the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless after just a day - some comparison to the Beoplay E8s that I used to own also throw in. HIGHS ====== - oh THAT sound baby! 😍 The MTW absolutely stun - incredible sounding for such small devices. I'm hearing things I've not heard before in my old tunes. Tried out the new Chemical Brothers tune 'Got to keep on' and I couldn't stop myself doing the head-bop ... the sound was alive and it sucked me in! - The bass is very controlled - quite warm overall, mids and trebles are all present and correct and no sibilance. I've tweaked the EQ on the app to get it just right for me as out of the box it's a bit bassy or 'muddy' I guess. I’ve nudged the EQ setting up and to the right a touch. - There is very decent soundstage and it's easy to pick up specific instruments as there is good separation considering the in-ear and wireless constraints. Overall I've got to say this is a superior sound to the E8 I used to own. - Passive noise isolation is also great - I'm using the larger tips and the one tube commute I had was bliss ... that Jubilee line screech was muted considerably. - Lightweight and comfortable - happy happy days on this front and no fear of these moving or falling out of my ears - Watching videos there is ZERO lag with YouTube. This was evident when running the audio sync test (easy to find on YouTube) - it was spot on. I've not yet tried other sources like iPlayer but I don't foresee any issues here - These look really smart and don't stick out - similar profile to the E8s in this regard. I prefer the stealthy look and was worried about the shiny exterior but it doesn't seem so blingy in real life. MIDS ====== - The case is decent - slightly larger that the B&O E8 case though. I do worry about the fabric cover peeling off and getting dirty. The hinge looks a bit weak also so need to treat with care. - Earpieces are quite slippery - I fear I'll drop them when removing/adding to case! (correction I definitely WILL drop them at some point 😬) - Decent battery life for me so far. There are some units with issues with discharging while in the case ... too early for me to say if I have a problem set. - The app is not the greatest but does what it needs I guess. LOWS ====== - Transparency mode. Try as I might, I can't get it to work for some reason on my set. Not good as I do like this feature on the E8s for hearing around me for tube train announcements. Will play around further with this. - Phone call quality - only tried one call outdoors and my wife on the other end sounded like she was lost in a tunnel. Though there seemed to be no issues on the receiving side as she heard me clearly. - Bluetooth pairing with multiple devices doesn't work well. I have paired with my iPhone and MacBook but I have to disable BT on my phone and then manually connect on my Mac. Not a massive deal breaker for me but I might get frustrated over time. - The Smart Control app is not so 'smart'. I struggled to connect / pair initially and it was tough trying to re-synch. Hopefully a minor blip. STICK or TWIST? ============== Well early days and I will monitor over the next few weeks of usage but on initial impressions it's a definite STICK for me.
