But in general it should run 300 - 400 ft. **Q: Has anyone used this under padded carpet? Thinking of running along the cement slab in my basement under padding and carpet.** A: I ran mine under carpet worked good. **Q: Can you run usb 5v dc power over this wire?** A: USB maxes out at 16ft, without a repeater. 1.5Amp or higher USB shouldnt be run more than 10ft. As per USB specs. Splicing your own USB is just asking for problems from the controller. **Q: What is new or different about version 2.0?** A: The backing is slightly textured on version 2.0 which is much better to paint over and less prone to permanent wrinkling than the original. I tried to butt it against corners, door frames, and base board to minimize its visibility.Likes: It gets the job done without needing to drill through walls, floors, or ceilings and then "fish" for speaker wire behind the wall or between joists; After working out the first connection to a terminal, the rest of them were easy to do; When I connected my speakers, it worked the first time and I have had no problems with the sound; Without doing any feathering or texturing, It took a coat of paint and matched the existing wall color perfectly (I have to point out the tape to people in order to get them to notice that it's there.)Dislikes: Although we had freshly painted walls (professionally done), the adhesive likes to come loose in a few places even though it was thoroughly pressed against the wall upon installation (It's not the worst thing in the world but I don't like to see any gap between the tape and the wall); I needed a little more Ghost Wire than was on the 100' reel so I ordered another 25' which is not on a reel and had a lot more bubbling (didn't easily lay flat on the wall); At over a buck per linear foot, it is a bit too pricey to use in every room; the folded corners do have a tendency to stand out, literally.NOTE: You still need speaker wire to run from the terminals to the speakers (I have wall mounted speakers and use about 1 foot of regular wire per speaker) and from the terminals on the other end to the amplifier or other source. If you order banana plugs (either solid or braided wire) with the terminals, the plugs do not fit into the holes in the terminals and you have to use bare wire. If they would manufacture the terminals with slightly larger holes, it would be excellent. Cons, doesn't lay fully flat, painting over it won't really work well. **1 thing, this stuff has no shielding at all. I rant it over concrete to lay under LVP flooring. Due to the lack of shielding it really seemed to amplify my previously quiet ground loop hum to intolerable levels. I didn't have this problem on any other speakers, fyi. I built audio equipment, and I take it fairly seriously. I wouldn't personally use GhostWire to wire a studio, but this is for an entertainment center.I found this product by accident while searching for a solution to run speaker wire across a floor under a rug in an ultra-low-profile.I did some research and watched a few videos to make sure it seemed to be what I wanted and then ordered a roll and some of the terminal blocks.If you are not getting the terminal blocks then frankly any problems you have are with yourself, this product works beautifully - and I won't lie I kind of had my doubts and thought I was sinking some money into a pipe dream.No this stuff is awesome!The most difficulty I had was in laying straight lines without a guide - something I should have thought to do was mark out my path ahead of time and square it but I was too excited and went straight to taping. Luckily the floor is covered by the aforementioned rug and the wall section by a wall tapestry.The GhostWire is currently powering my rear channel speakers in a 5.1 setup.I am so satisfied I reached out to Sewell to let them know. I intend on using GhostWire for future installations as well.I have not tested how well it takes spackle/drywall mud and paint, since I opted to cover with a wall tapestry as I know I will have to uninstall it eventually.Finally, the tack on this is pretty great. The stick factor is impressive, even dealing with our slightly textured wall like a champ. This stuff is thin, not quite paper thin, I would put it about as thick as two razorblades stacked - tapered at the edges with a gentle slope. This is barely noticeable and before the rug was put down I was able to drag a coffee table over the installed wire without it catching/hanging.Edit 6/20/19: this stuff is still going strong and has even survived the first ten months of my daughters life.
