Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection [DVD]

Superb collection. Only one of the 15 movies is subpar by all accounts. Plus you get shows and other good stuff. Worth twice as much.

Perfect set of famous Hitchcock movies. In 4K!

The quality of the restorations are high. I’ve only played 5 from the Hitchcock set so far but when a disc goes over two hours there is a noticeable pause and in two cases the film has actually frozen and requires restarting when the third layer of the Ultra Hi Def Blu Ray is being accessed. My earlier Blu Ray of Vertigo has a much better contrast balance in the final few minutes of the film , as the Hi Def copy is very gray and washed out - whereas the old Blu Ray has better blacks. Psycho is a splendid print as are Rear Window, Frenzy and The Man Who Knew too Much. It’s a shame about the freezing as the disc enters layer three, as this is not apparent on my copies of Ben Hur, Lawrence of Arabia or Nosferatu. That said, this Hitchcock collection is infinitely cheaper than buying the Hitchcock discs individually or in the four or five set collections that are also available.

The discs play well, but the second disc case had too much wax or finishing wax. Marnie fell out in transport, and it looked damaged, so I cleaned it with dish soap. It looked good after cleaning, and the disc behind it, "Torn Curtain," also fell out and was cleaned. "Marnie" looks blurry now and then, not as good as "The Birds," etc. I used the codes on Movies Everywhere, not the site they provided, which was asking to send me spam.

Premessa. Edizione dvd regione americana, per cui se comprate questa edizione assicuratevi di avere un lettore region free. Trovato in offerta, usato condizioni accettabili, ad un prezzo irrisorio. Purtroppo mancava il booklet ma va bene così, edizione molto bella esteticamente con un digibook molto ben curato. Consigliato. Ricordo che in questa versione i film non hanno ne audio ne sub in italiano. Sono presenti però i sub inglesi

Nur 3 Sterne, aber nicht wegen Hitchcock oder Qualität, sondern weil die DVD's nicht auf Regionalcode Europa laufen. Auf dem Laptop Krieg man es hin, würde aber gerne auf Glotze schauen...

As far as I know all of Hitchcock 4K releases are in this awesome set. To Catch a thief is not included but North by Northwest is. The 2 collections that were brought out, Vol 1 and Vol 2 of Hitchcock movies are all included in this set. Have watched 4 of the movies and the picture quality and 4k transfer is brilliant. Absolutely must own on 4K
