Osmo Polyx-Oil - 3031 Clear Matte - .125 Liter

I’ve done a lot of woodworking in my day and covered wood countertops with stain, varnish, paint, just about anything you can think of. I had never used this product up until this last project and I absolutely love it. While it is more more expensive than most products I’ve used in the past, it is amazingly easy to use, and the quality and beauty it provides in the wood countertops is some of the best I’ve ever done. Very easy to apply. I asked ChatGPT what it recommended for putting this on hevea wood and followed those instructions which were fairly concise and easy to follow. Essentially after my wood was stained and dried for 24 to 48 hours I put a coat of this on, allow it to set for 15 minutes and then with a dry cloth wiped all of the moisture off and allowed it to dry for 24 hours between the two coats that I put on our counters. When I brought that countertop in to install it in the kitchen, I think my wife wanted to marry me again, she was so happy. Understand, this particular can is very small like one of those little sample cans you get from Home Depot when you get a sample of paint. Unless you’re doing a very large counter, you don’t need much more than what’s in this can. You don’t put this on like regular stain, it goes on very, very thin. I put two coats on an 8 foot by the 30 inch countertop and I used maybe a quarter of an inch out of this can. Don’t let the price scare you, I know you’re used to buying a quart of stain or oil for under 10 bucks but this product is well worth it and you will be happy and amazed with the product. It leaves a nice matte finish and after two coats, I buffed in a coat of butcher block wax, and the water just beads up on top of the counter. Amazing! Oh, and I might add, wiping down and cleaning your countertops is extremely smooth and easy to do. We’ve had ours up for several weeks now and used it like you would any kitchen counter, and I’ve had no stains or issues or anything when food or grease or something gets splattered on the countertops it just wipes right off.

Saw comments about how tiny the can is...but it clearly says .125 liter which is about 1/2 pint. Product itself is great and seems to have more "solids" for viscosity. It is expensive for it's size but for smaller projects it's worth the expense and it causes you to use a small brush which, in turn, causes you to use less. I like the matte finish and plan to order the gloss for future projects.

This stuff is great. I used it to finish an ikea Karlby, it goes on easy with white scotchbrite pads and looks great too. It also doesn’t smell much, you could probably put it on inside your house and just have a window open. One of these small cans is enough to finish 2 74x24 table tops at least

This stuff is excellent. I love the finish after it cures. The reason for the 4 stars is Ive now purchased 3 cans of it for a very small project and ive put it on very lightly... it goes quickly. Its a tiny can .125 liter

This is my favorite finish on indoor-use wood projects--so satiny and rich, easy to apply, very natural-feeling. A little goes a long way. I love it so much that I'm on my second can.

I've worked with a lot of stains and oils but his stuff is heaven. Very easy to work with and almost no smell. After I built my custom work bench for wood working and stuff I used this product and have had zero problems and after 4 years it is still holding up as if it was a fresh coat. I only reordered for another project.

I have worked with a myriad of products to coat and finish handmade boxes, to furniture. OSMO matte finishes out beautifully with very little smell, to a handmade baby smooth finish. Just recently finished out two projects, (see photos) I sanded to 400 grit, applied sparingly with a brush and cloth, then wiped to a lustre. Repeated 3 times, with a 8 to 10 hour period between.

To be fair, I haven't tested this much yet. But, my initial observation is that it will take a lot of coats (rubbed on with a cloth) to achieve some appreciable build up and sheen. On my sanded oak test board I also observed some blotchy patches which I didn't expect and may have been because of my application technique. So, because I was concerned about the slow application process I decided, instead, to use a tried and true mixture of 50% OIL based satin polyurethane and 50% mineral spirits on my project to get a faster build-up. I hand rubbed multiple applications of this mixture with a soft cotton cloth and got a faster build up.

This is tiny. Misread as 1.25 litres. Why are you selling this?????
