eSUN ABS+ Filament 1.75mm, Low Warping 3D Printer Filament ABS Plus, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05mm, 1KG Spool (2.2 LBS) 3D Printing Filament for 3D Printers, Black

This is the best abs I've probably ever purchased. It printed a large item in the cold night and did not even warp by a fraction. Didn't even need an enclosure. I really hope the next purchase is as good as this one!

I have always opted for eSun filament, ever since I had my first 3d printer (started with their PLA+). Having now got an enclosed printer, I wanted to try out ABS filament. I have to say, printing with it is an absolute breeze. I used the stock profile (with adjustments for walls, infill, etc to suit my application) and hit print. Being ABS, there is a smell. I have added a carbon filter to the rear of the printer and have the ability to print in a spare room that I can close the door to and open the window. I have printed several things so far and not had a single failed print. The filament and subsequent print quality are both very good. When I need to buy more ABS, I will certainly be buying this again.

It's a real pain on... the heated bed. I've tried printing on Creality glass, PEI, and a spring steel sheet at temperatures ranging from 90 to 110°C, with minimal adhesion and numerous failures. The only thing that helped with adhesion is the blue painter's tape at 108°C for the first layer, then back to 103°C. (I've never tried glue or any messy substances on my build surface.) For me, the optimal nozzle temperature is 225°C. At and above 235°C, there are significant artifacts on overhangs, and it drags the corners in (or up). With the above settings, after the first 5 layers, I can also turn on the fan at 30% speed. Despite the long learning curve, I loved its color and bought a second spool when it was on offer. I recommend to play with it and find your sweet spot.

The only good ABS you can get on Amazon UK. Very fragile filament if you don't dry it and print in cool enviroment. It's perfect once you setup your settings. It workd out great for me only after filament got completly dry, 250c first layer and further 240C, Fan completly off, used encolsure, 0.4mm nozzle, 96% flowrate, 0.24mm first layer height, with applying primafix on bed for better adhesion, speed first layer 20mm, and regular 50mm. Hopefully this will help somebody. Spent almost a whole spool to get this ABS printing. Changed to 5 star. Thanks Update This ABS+ is great. Could achieve stuning results only on a Voron printer, with custom settings in Superslicer. Bed 110, first layer 260, rest on 250. Prints fine on Ender as well, you really have to setup the slicer.

I normally like eSun filaments. I've used tonnes of their PETG, PLA and PA-CF (both versions) without issue but this ABS+ in purple was an absolute nightmare. From the start the spool was wound awfully. Looks like the tension on their extrusion machine was off on the day because some of the loops on the outside were wound so tight they were buried right to the core of the spool meaning it would get trapped and yank my filament drybox off the shelf with it. I had to unwind enough for my print onto another spool just to get it to unwind smoothly. As for the prints themselves, this is the worst shrinkage I've ever experienced. I can print ABS, ASA, Nylon absolutely fine, but this ABS+ was another level of shrinkage. Bed adhesion was not a problem, but once parts were complete they'd shrink and crack to pieces over the course of an hour (left on the bed, in the heated enclosure) so I'd come back to shreds of filament on the bed. Lots of moisture in the spool too so there was tonnes of popping and cracking along the way resulting in gaps in extrusion. Even after drying for 24 hours at 70C (which incidentally melted the spool) the popping was still evident. Hopefully it's just a one-off with this spool, but it's put me off buying any more eSun ABS/ABS+ again. Maybe it's the purple pigment. Either way, extremely disappointed.

Printed fantastic straight from the pack

I don't often feel moved to review stuff, but felt compelled to in this case. I've been 3d printing with ABS for years, using a wide variety of filament brands. In my experience, there are only small differences between them. Compared to the rest, this eSun ABS+ really stands out! The precision and detail I'm getting with the same settings I use for normal ABS are spectacular, and it doesn't string. I've had no problems with bed adhesion or 'crumbling parts', as some others have reported: they come out strong and sturdy. It has a more matt surface appearance, which might not be be as appealing to some, but sands and slicks pretty well. I've only tried black so far, but am intending to buy some other colours. Well done eSun!

Update: I printed several items with this filament and, although it's very easy to print and the results look excellent, I learned the hard way that the layer adhesion is awful! It looks like I will only be using this for more solid items that can tolerate poor layer adhesion. I have an Ender3 V2 modified with a Spider V3 all-metal hot-end and an Orbiter V2 Direct Drive extruder. Do the OrcaSlicer calibrations on this filament, make sure it's dry (mine was from the box) and it prints perfectly! There's not a lot of the famed ABS smell, but for your health and to minimize warping (haven't had any yet) use an enclosure, ideally with HEPA + Carbon and plenty of room ventilation.

I've used a variety of eSun filaments at this point, mostly PLA and PLA plus, this is the first ABS I've gotten from them and the first ABS I've ever printed with and let me tell you, this company really has their filaments down pat. Everything I've ever printed with eSun filaments has turned out phenomenally. And with this ABS, I truly expected a fight. Its supposed to be more difficult to print with due to warping and all that good stuff, but this ABS+ formula has everything you could desire for the perfect print. Its strong, has a beautiful matte sort of finish that makes it soooo much nicer looking than black PLA, its temperature resistant, AND holy cow is it easy to print with! I ran basically default profiles for everything in Orca and didnt have the slightest problem. Even printing without a brim, raft, or skirts, my first few prints went off without a hitch, which truly surprised me after fighting SOOOO hard with PETG right before this. I will say that ABS is traditionally considered to have some hydroscopic tendencies from what I've read, although not nearly as much a PETG for instance. I can't really say I experienced that with this filament. To be entirely honest, I threw it in the drier before hand anyway. But with PETG it seemed like if I didnt keep the drier cranked on full blast 24/7, it was so wet by the time you came back to print it was basically unprintable (depending on the brand). With this ABS, I forgot to turn the drier on a couple different times and never really saw a huge difference at all. On some layers it would seem to get a little flakey, if that makes sense. Almost as if it weren't laying down in a perfect layer or something. But it was, check out the photos for proof. It truly resulted in nothing but fantastic results on every print despite my observation of the strange flake that seemed to come off some of the solid infill layers as it printed. As I said, I'm rather new to this, so maybe all ABS just does that. I did have to add a brim to one print that warped a bit because it had such a small footprint on the buildplate AND because that side of the plate ended up slightly out of level when I checked it. I re-leveled the bed, added a small brim, and the next print went off without a hitch. Finally, ABS has a reputation for smelling horrid... Though while this filament does give off a faint "burnt plastic" kinda smell after you've been printing it legit all day, to me the smell wasnt potent enough to bother me in the least. Then again, my nose may be screwy, cause I can inhale resin fumes like its going out of style too without the slightest side effect. For the time being at least... lol. (I do use PPE while handling resin, Im just pointing out that my nose doesnt seem to be quite as sensitive to it as other people's does.) For the newbs out there like myself who have never printed in ABS before, I have added my basic slicer settings via screenshot, but if your working in Orca particularly, your basically fine to go with the default ABS profile and the default for your printer and nozzle. I would suggest turning the speed down just a hair, but it prints fine at full speed too! And MAKE SURE your cooling settings are dialed in or you risk cooling too much and causing warpage. Same goes for printing with an enclosure, it is ABSOLUTLE NECESSARY with ABS to avoid warpage. I would also recommend using a PEI plate for great adhesion, personally I used a textured PEI plate and had amazing results with minimal failure. I for one will be purchasing ABS from eSun again in the very near future, and in all honesty, I don't believe I'll go back to printing black in PLA at all unless I just need something with a gloss finish to it. This matte finish on the ABS from eSun is amazing, and I love it, and I want more of it. Haha.
