Beautiful, and makes a very nice addition to a nautical display

This item is fantastic. Hubby was very impressed with the quality of both the box and the sectant. The item was very well packaged for shipping, wrapped with bubble wrap and in its own box. We’re looking into purchasing several other items from this company based on the quality of the sextant which now holds pride of place on my husband’s desk.

This works adequately for my purpose. Everything(filters and lenses) all lined up as I perceived them to. The box provided Oohs and Ahs from my H.S. World History class during a lesson on Navigating part of "Age of discovery". As we "sailed" the campus to locate where we were in the world, Students were excited to use a tool they had studied. This delivered for that purpose. Accuracy, well used by a bunch of landlubbing rookies, Who didn't use all of realistic adjustments(such as refraction), we did place ourselves app. 3-5 degrees from the true latitude. They were impressed. The Good: Looks great, if going to use for decoration this is perfect. Yes it is functional but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't use this to depend too heavily on for real life navigation. The Bad: Maybe a little darker filter to shade from the sun when using the sun as the celestial body.

I got this for my husband for our 5 year anniversary and we were really pleased with the look and craftsmanship of both the box and the instrument.

Used as an accent piece on a custom Murphy Bookcase. Makes a great conversation piece. This item also is completely functional. Recommended to be purchased with Sextant manual.

Nice. The only thing I didn’t like was the box smelled like spray paint and the edges for gold were not as sharp, it look like someone messed up the stencils to create the ovals

I'm a really big pirate nerd (tons of books, movies, ect) and I collect nautical things, mostly pirate if I can get it. Always wanted to add a sextant to my collection and every one I've come across is either way expensive or really cheaply made (sometimes both). The craftsmanship to price ratio is pretty solid and it looks really great in my collection.

For my 92 year old Dad who has everything, this now takes a prominent place in his office. Quality is second to none!
