I have found this to be very potent and effective as a rodent deterrent
update: i just received my third or probably fourth bottle of this peppermint oil, and this time it doesn't appear to be as strong. it doesn't offend my nose if i get too close. i have placed soaked samples from this bottle and the last bottle (as a comparison) on vinyl sheeting to see if either or both reacts, i.e., start to dissolve the plastic, which has happened with this product in the past. thing is with essential oils, at any time the manufacturer can start cutting the supposedly uncut oil. i tried to contact the manufacturer and didn't see a path to do it. if there is no reaction to the 12 gauge plastic by tomorrow, i'll post it and lower the stars. if there is a strong reaction to the plastic, i'll remove this update and/or keep the stars at 5. i'm using this to keep mice out of an empty house, had tried several brands of supposedly uncut peppermint oil until i found this one. the original review remains below. i have found this to be very potent and effective as a rodent deterrent. I have compared several different products, and this one has been the strongest. When I put a cotton ball soaked with this on a plastic tablecloth it starts to disintegrate the plastic right away. The smell sticks around a long time. My mom's car is sitting without being started in our driveway, and we live on a mountain. I put a large cotton ball soaked with this underneath her hood on a metal piece that covers the air filter. You can smell that peppermint in her driveway without opening the hood and when the hood is open there are no animal signs. It's probably protecting the vehicle right next to hers as well. Then I read about adding a mix of peppermint essential oil and water and maybe some lemon essential oil to diatomaceous earth, and mixing it into a paste, because the diatomaceous earth holds on to the scent longer, and you can revive when needed by moistening it and adding a little bit more essential oil. I made that mixture this morning with this peppermint essential oil and took it around my moms house to leave a little gift of hospitality to rodent holes any place I could find that they could get under the house or where they had dug a hole. When you hear and read that peppermint oil doesn't work for rodents, I am convinced it's because there's a lot crap out there sold as pure uncut peppermint oil. Granted this is in plastic, so I will not cook with it. But I just got it to offend mice and spiders and flies. wasps, bees, unwelcome critters generally. your moms house is empty. Otherwise I wouldn't fill it with the scent of peppermint. I have peppermint balls and now little lumps of this diatomaceous earth with peppermint all over the house sitting on glass saucers to fill the scent of the house with peppermint. This way, we don't have to kill things; we just cause them to not want to be in the space. did I say that I had to try several brands to find a strong one like this? I think Now is pretty good, and it comes in glass, but it's more expensive. I'm not sure if it used to be or if it went up with Covid. If I was going to cook with it AND use it as a rodent deterrent, I would buy the Now brand.

Big bottle peppermint essential oil for daily diffusion and DIY blends
I bought this peppermint essential oil to have a pure mint scent for diffusing and a few simple DIY blends around the house. The 16 oz size was a big plus because I go through peppermint oil for cleaning tasks and quick scent refreshes, and I wanted something that would last. It is described as 100% pure, natural and uncut from Mentha arvensis, which matches what I was after. The plastic jug with a child resistant cap feels sturdy and convenient to use. In everyday use I drop a few drops into my diffuser and the room fills with a bright mint aroma with a warm menthol edge. The oil is thin enough to measure easily and it blends well with other oils like lavender or lemon when I am making a light diffuser blend or a fresh spray. What stood out is how clean and long lasting the scent is even in small amounts, and how versatile it is for making room scents and simple blends. The packaging and eco friendly approach are nice touches, and the idea of a larger bottle means fewer reorders. The fact that it is uncut and pure gives me confidence in the quality. One small note is that peppermint can be strong, so I start with just a drop or two to avoid overpowering the space and I learn the right dilution. There is a light learning curve with safe uses, but it is easy to pick up. Overall I am very satisfied with this oil; it has become a reliable staple for everyday mint scent and DIY blends.

Works Great! Pricey though.
I love this stuff. I have three dogs, so using insecticides is always a concern. This works great and no concerns. In fact, because the mailbox pee-mail from neighbor dogs gets a bit too plentiful, I spray around it weekly and they leave it alone. Around the doors and windows is another good place to spray, and it seems to keep flies at bay and smells good. Mosquitoes hate it, I like it! I have a rocky area, which gives critters some privacy to breed. Not anymore, they hate the peppermint so much that they move on - quickly. It does need to be sprayed weekly, to stay at maximum effectiveness, but you don’t need to spray a lot. My sole con is the price, which feels about $5-$6 too high. I only use it seasonally now, because it wouldn’t be cost effective to order as much as I would like to use.

THIS IS A CONSISTENT, IN MY AMZN BUYS! WORKS 1OO%!!
I didn't realize the container would be so small. It's a PURE product that needs to be diluted. So it lasts longer than this little jug is small. Trust me and the others who call this on repeat. It is the product within that matters. This essential oil is of excellent quality. I've been using it to #1 curb my strong willed felines from areas in the home they need not climb. Kitchen counters! Unless you're cooking or on the menu, you have no business in the kitchen! I don't dine on cats. My cats don't cook! So story told. #2. I've had an issue with unwanted wildlife entering my garage, of the rodent kind. This works wonderfully. I know it's potent, due to the fact that the less water I use, the more the spray leaves me feeling like a crisp spring breeze blew through the room. I get goose bumps and chilled. Pleasant to me, not so to the animal persuasion. I love the aroma of Peppermint! and have started using this in my counter spray, as well. Adding it to your regimen for cleaning leaves things smelling fresh. Pouring a bit in the window tracks, helps keep the unwanted flyers out, as well. ** I am on subscription with this, so as to not run out. The times I have I truly regret not being diligent. The possibilities are endless as to where and what to use this for and on. Wonderful way to give a room a bit of a perking up.. **I want my home smelling so pepper minty that the rodent population runs by holding their noses screaming in pain! Eye's watering, nose running, chilled to the bone.. Oh yeah. lol** I see how people complain about the size & cost. Well, if you add the needed water or alcohol it would take to dilute it, it would be more than (5) 5 gallon containers from H.Depot. Seriously. When I use it to spray out doors, in between the Talstar (2x's per year) I go through about 5 gallons of mixed liquid. I use maybe 2 capfulls, I like mine strong. I don't spray the plants, just doors, windows, cracks (in the side walk & driveways), mail box, and around my stationary planters. I have to admit, I have sprayed the Juniper. Didn't kill it. My goal was to get at the spiders that have condo'ed out in it. Not many things get rid of spiders, except a shoe! Meaning them being road kill on the bottom. This and pure (but diluted) Cedar Oil, not together. Just 2 separate oils that kills within seconds. Spray, sit back and watch them do the swirl of death, flinch flick and then lights out. **** My meaning is, don't knock it until you try it. It works. I was where you were years ago. Disgruntled about the price or the small container. Until I saw just how far this little jug of awesome truly goes. I won't stray to another maker, I did once and really regretted that move. THAT was a waste of time, $, and product. I won't stray again. With essentials, what works best is Excellent Product & consistency!! Here, I am happy. I have found what works for me.

Peppermint rodent repellent
I use this product for my garage and my RV to keep rodents away. It is very strong smelling peppermint that seems to repel mice so far I have had no mice in my RV or garage. I did additionally use it in my truck under the hood, so mice wouldn’t Build a nest in my truck. It was too strong of a scent when I would drive the truck so I stopped.

Outdoor rodent deterrent/repellent.
In mid October I had something setting off motion lights for a few nights and had my dog flying around trying to find or get something when he was let out into yard. I readjusted the cameras and moved one to ground level near back door and soon after was alerted to motion and there he was … a rat 🫢 🤮🤨. It seemed to be the same fella doing the same routine night after night and I need him gone. My German Shepherd is my fur baby so poison floating around anywhere is simply not an option. I like wanted to take into consideration any wildlife butterfly effect from anything I was going to use and opted to try the peppermint route. Plus I like the smell of peppermint. Saw this product , read the reviews and figured I’d give it a shot. First and foremost it worked , like really really worked. I watched on camera as this rodent debating coming closer and then take off. He’d do this a few times but never went further into yard / past the sprayed areas. Eventually the motion detections stopped and haven’t seen him since. Now could he have been caught in a trap or poisoned somewhere else , sure could have. I don’t know but I KNOW this stopped him from coming around my house and my yard. I watched it on my cameras. Also could it have been user ignorance of not realizing just how strong this stuff was - absolutely. When I tell you I had to close windows because my eyes were watering I’m not joking. My neighbors could even get the scent of peppermint. I really had no clue how strong this was until it was done. Spraying every foot or so probably wasn’t necessary but then again, it worked soooooo 🤣. Because I had sprayed it under seasoned porch as well it was more protected from the elements and the scent lightened but I would get a nice soft smell for well over a week! Because I horrified to see a rat that close to my house I had also bought the pouches and flung those here and there and then would come around and spray those too to keep the scent going. Just didn’t spray them crazy because I had learn my lesson. Bottom line it works and overspraying - all be it eye watering for me - might have just been what made it work so fast and good for me and my situation. It’s been about a month since I last sprayed the pouches and haven’t resprayed anything else and still no sign of him - or anything else / any other wondering rodent for that matter. I recommend this product if your looking for a natural and safe deterrent/repellent.

Strong & Pricey
Upon receiving the product, I was pleasantly surprised by its timely delivery. However, I was not anticipating a larger container for the price. The price should be adjusted considering the size of the container. The peppermint scent is delightful, and a small amount is sufficient due to the potency of the peppermint. Regarding its effectiveness in repelling insects, I cannot provide an accurate assessment at this time. I have only sprayed the product to offer an honest review, and I am awaiting the results to determine its insect-repelling capabilities. Nevertheless, I can confirm that the product effectively opens up the sinuses and leaves your home smelling clean. I’m giving 4 stars due to the cost I will share the actual container size . Hope this helps someone.
