On getting another fault I invested in an OBD2 cable and scanning software coming in to around €60. It told me what the fault was and a quick google identified this sensor as the culprit. It took two minutes to replace it on the X-Trail, no special tools required and easy to get to. It cleared the fault and my cruise control is also back working again. So saving about €180 in all.
