First day impressions
Ok my dog is upper end of range on chest and mid range on weight for the large size. It fits him well. Any longer though and he would have problems peeing. So if you have a not so long dog you might need to modify and trim an inch or two off Looks comfortable enough to leave on all the time. My dog doesn’t mind clothes. Feels like quality fabric. We’ll see how it holds up The handle unclips easily so he can walk around without it and we can clip on to get him up and down stairs. First Cary up stairs went well. He didn’t mind at all. A LOT easier than attempting to pick him up—he wiggles and legs go everywhere—in a panic. So this seems to be a lot less stress for him I need to play around with the handle strap adjustment to see what works best. A bit long was fine for me as I am tall. Adjusting for smaller and weaker members of the household will be the issue. The carrying position is a lot easier on my back than picking him up which requires poor and unsafe lifting posture. So I’m thrilled for now One month update This is great! Much easier getting him up and down stairs. He can help a little too. He wears it all the time. I have the straps adjusted real short and I tied up the excess strap material with a couple of hair ties so the handle strays on all the time and whenever he needs a lift it is quick and easy. He rarely rolls on his back so the handle isn’t in the way for him at all. Not sure if it would be a problem for a dog that likes to roll around a lot. The vest is very comfortable for him. It looks nice on him even with the handle attached. It has survived the first wash no problem (I let it air dry ). It seems pretty durable and well made. Thick material, no loose strings or trim, seems to be sewn well. I may consider getting a second one to make more frequent washing convenient, but it doesn’t seem to get dirty any faster than he does. My dog was apparently hit by a car early in his life and his back legs always worked a little goofy. Now that he is older some nerve degeneration and arthritis are making things more difficult. I got this when he sprained something back there, and he REALLY was having trouble and pain walking and climbing was out of the question. It has helped him with the acute problem which seems to have mostly healed now Perhaps the only minor downside is that he expects to be assisted to get on the bed now and he tries less on his own, and whines for help when he knows someone is around.

Surprisingly Efficient - Solid Product
First off - my disclaimer is this was purchased to assist with a 64lb, 16 yr old, rear end partially paralyzed female boxer mix. Use - The quality is very nice with durable stitching and material. I specifically waited until its first washing to confirm. The harness is put on front feet first over the belly with velcro closures on the back in two places. There are two sets of straps and three sets of possible strap placements based on sets of clips on the harness (one set at the front, one set in the middle and one set at the rear providing cross-over placement if wanted). After experimenting we found the best for us was putting the straps on each end (one of the front clips and one on the back clips) and adjusted evenly for equal support. This still allows us to supplement the end needed as she attempts to walk (she still likes to think she can move on her own and does a little 'hop' we have to compensate for). Pros - The harness provids the comfort we were wanting compared to the more robust harness we previously used daily. Comfort for the dog: front end support, less pressure on the upper chest/throat, less pressure on the back hips (bladder) and breathable. Comfort for us: less bending over for support while walking, manuvering up and down stairs, bathroom time and lifting into and out of her cart. The ease of adjustment was nice. Cons- turns out our girl needed a stronger support along the body since it tended to try and "bunch" with extended use (bathroom time can take a little while for her). We are debating putting support rods over the length of the back line to brace and prevent bunching when in use. The other thing to note is that if your pet is impaired with movement, this brace can be a pain to put on. In our case, our girl has a back end that lays to one side or the other and relies on supporting herself on her front end (her back end can move but can no longer lift or support her). This meant we would have to take her support away by one side at a time or flip her over to get it on comfortably. Let's just say she wasn't a fan of the process. The main con for us is this harness was not helpful for lifting her into or out of the vehicle nor onto anything above a foot or so in height. There was just no way to adjust the straps to be both efficient in assisting in movement and also assisting in lifting. Perhaps having the option for an additional strap that can be used on the middle clips would help solve this? A handle on the harness itself would be amazing. This did not change my rating because I had already concluded this would be a problem before purchase and it was confirmed with use after we experimented with strap placement). Overall we are happy with the purchase and would recommend this product or purchase again if needed.

Great device, some improvements needed
This jacket has been very helpful while our Pomeranian recovers from double knee surgery. We are able to clip the handle on to hoist him out to the potty area, up stairs, and in and out of his ex-pen then un-clip the handles. The only two issues I see are 1) the velcro is too sticky - I have to apply a lot of force to take the jacket off which isn’t great for a patient in pain and 2) the XS is still too big for an 8-lb dog - it’s too long underneath so he can’t pee with it on and the neck hole is so big he can slip his arms out through it. I also don’t understand why there are three sets of receiver clips on the jacket and only two sets of insertion clips on the handle. Overall a good tool for tiny dog recovery.

It's been a LIFESAVER for me
When I initially bought this, I had NO idea how dependent on it I would eventually become; I initially bought it giving I'd use it simply to ASSIST my dog up in an attempt to save his critical supportive leg joints. I thought (I hate to say it, because he was always in TERRIBLE shape where his joints were concerned) that he wouldn't live very long, because I adopted him as a 10 year old dog with an ACL replacement. Here we are, 4 years later. and his will to live and thrive (he still thinks he's a puppy) is still very strong, while his rear legs are nearly totally kaput. Max became very very slowly less and less mobile over the time period since I bought this jacket for him, to the degree that it rarely comes off of him. The movable straps thankfully have VERY strong plastic buckles on them that have easily withstood holding Max's ENTIRE weight (70-75lbs) as I've occasionally even had to carry him completely airborne/feet off the ground from room to room, and each time I hoist him into the back of my SUV. This sling has also become a very important part of my success in being able to implement the use of the Best Friends Mobility wheelchair I bought for Max about 2 months ago. If it wasn't for this sling, it'd be much more difficult to support Max whenever in the process of supporting Max's weight for the 1-2 minutes it normality takes to get him situated in his wheelchair. The wheelchair has ALSO been a true lifesaver, but its two plastic clips that support Max's weight, and that hook in either side of his shoulders pale MISERABLY in comparison (strength-wise) to the durable plastic clips on this sling. The strength of the clips in this sling are tested on our daily walks in the wheelchair, because I pull Max by the front-most strap for the entire first half of our "stROLLS" (He uses GREAT physical strength in his front legs to dig in and resist "stROLLing" away from my house, so the front strap gets strained quite a bit the first half of any departure from my house, as I use it to basically lift his entire weight AND physical resistance. Once dragged to the halfway point, he looks like a totally different dog. walking HIMSELF very effortlessly in his wheelchair (no support needed!) back home, happily sniffing every blade of grass along the way back home. ...but without this sling I'd never get him ANY distance from the house, because the cheaper plastic clips in the wheelchair/attached to the WHEELCHAIR harness give way EVERY time any forces is resistance have been presented to them. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS SLING. It fairly easy to put on (even though I have to slide it on UNDER his body as he's laying down most of the time when putting it on him), it's been washed a million times, its cut is perfect for toileting, it's durable, and it also acts as a coat for his old bones in the wintertime. The ONLY ONLY ONLY negative thing I can say is that it IS like a coat. ...and we live in TX and LA - EACH place being very hot climates. My solution as of late has been to simply hose Max down (sling and ALL) before going for our "stROLLs". It serves as his bath, and - with the sling as wet as I want to make it, acts as a cooling blanket of sorts. It just takes a long time for the sling and his fur underneath to dry (EW. Wet dog smell!), so I do my best to only saturate the sling/Max's fur add much as will evaporate on our ventures out if the house. .... but did I mention the sling is washable??? 🤪 LIFE. SAVER. ....x2 'Cuz even though he's always been physically challenged, Max shows daily that he still FEELS like a puppy inside, and isn't yet ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge. Max still shows he intends to keep on trucking, and this sling has made this alllllllll possible!

Too flexible to hold up rear of wrap.
Good construction and quality materials. The only problem is that the top material needs to have reinforcing so that it does not bend in half and fold the whole sling in half. Going to have to figure out a way to stiffen the top of the wrap. going to try a 1" x 10" piece of Aluminum flat stock.

Great
My black lab has arthritic hips and knees, and this works great for him. It helps him up-and-down. He wears it probably 10 hours a day, and it doesn't seem to bother him at all, but it really helps us up in picking him up. And helping him up

Not adjustable
"3 sizes fit all". Well, it doesn't. There is no adjustability. If your dog is not exactly "small", "medium", or "large"... as determined by some unknown individual who apparently has never had a dog... you'll probably just end up sending them back for a refund. Do yourself and your dog a favor and buy an authentic "HelpEmUp" harness. The instructions actually recommend cutting pieces off of the product to make it fit. But that would void the return policy, right?

This was exactly the right choice for my doggie and me both and what we need.
My dog is an elder dog, a small chocolate Cocker Spaniel rescue. I got the item much sooner after ordered than originally estimated and got it a couple days ago. It looked just right for my Lizzie out of the package but I had some other items I ordered for other things that were more crucial to get to and today is the first day I tried it on to check out the fit and if she tolerated it well. I put kind of rubbed it on me to get my smell on it for her and then put it where she sleeps for the couple days before we tried it on. She has a little harness for walking that she likes very much and gets excited when she sees me get it out but this is bigger so I thought as long as I didn't want to try it on right away it might be good for her to have it nearby and get a chance to sniff it over and check it out. She did that and laid down with her head on it to go to sleep. LOL. Here's the details on the fit. I ordered the small size after taking all the measurements shown in the diagram and matching them up and her weight matched up with the small size too. She is about 23 pounds give or take a bit each time we go to the vet for her annual for the last six years. She was a rescue so not sure her age exactly as she was a stray, not brought in by someone who knew anything about her past. She is about 12 or 13 years old now according to vet's best guesstimates. He muzzle has gone white and she had some kind of injury to one of her rear legs that makes her splay it out to the side when sitting when she was adopted, but has never stopped her f4rom running like a young pup. In the last couple years she HAS had some trouble jumping up into the car, though to go places and the places I often take her are stores like Lowe's and Tractor Supply, BASS and petsmart or Pet Supplies Plus that allow dogs in there. I also have injuries and am definitely elderly now Myself and I have a lot of trouble if I have to lift her to help her in or out of the car, and especially in and out of the basket of the motorized shopping cart I usually have to use, or the regular carts if I am able to use them for short visits that I don't have a lot of things on my list to buy. She and I both enjoy these trips to the stores that allow dogs, and she gets excited when I say "Lowe's" because the local store we go to,, the employees and other customers. make such a fuss over her which she loves....she's a little schmoozer and knows how to use it to get treats from the store employees. So it was getting so that between her increasing stiffness and mine, that these trips were turning into a lot more torturous for both of us than pleasant. The vest/harness looked like it would be just the thing for both of us and now that I have tried it on her, it fits perfectly and she seems to like it a lot. So, at least for the small size, the measurements I took and her weight were spot on and it is not too tight, too loose and fits snugly without being to tight anyewhere. It clears her genitals and lower belly area just right so that she will not have any accidents that soil the harness. The under part comes to just below her ribcage and the upper part sits along her spine smoothly from her shoulders to just before the root of her tail. She can still walk and run in it the one piece construction is another plus for us and the front part is formed and curved just right to fit smoothly across her chest and not put any pressure her throat. Another plus is that the one piece construction is so easy to put on. Just lay it on the floor or other surface and put her front legs through the two holes made for them and pull the sides up along her body and the velcro tabs over to hitch it together and you're done. She almost put her own legs through the holes without any help herself like she knew just what this was for and maybe she does because in her past life she might have had something like this, who knows. But even if she doesn't get the hang of stepping her two front legs into the holes herself, its still not going to be a struggle for me to get it on her because there are no buckles or straps in hard to reach places all, just a perfectly fitting little one piece item that is not at all confusing as to how its supposed to go on with two broad, thic flaps to fold over to hook onto the velcro patches together. And those are large and broad too, on both parts. I'd say it took less than a minute to get the body of it on her the first time and that's with me having bad shoulders, a hand that doesn't work right anymore, weakened arm hand and shoulder strength so I can't put and tug things together if they are hard to line up, can't bend over very long and crouching or squatting down to reach under her to grab hanging buckle straps that also needed to be buckled together under her or between legs etc would be a nightmare. This is just perfect for us. All connections are on top and easy to use. This does not come with a handle sewn to the top. It comes with straps that clip on securely to two of the three sets of clip buckles sewn on the fabric construction of the vest itself, and the two straps are held together at where ever you want them placed with a nicely padded fabric velcro clasp just as shown in the pictures. The vest and all parts that come into contact with the doggie or your hand when carrying/walking/lifting are nicely padded, soft but firm and not with any kind of padding that is going to shift around, not too thin, not to thick or bulkey. Outside is smooth, inside lining has a little bit of texture that I also think is a plus to keep it slipping around a lot, and perforated to present some air flow or heat vents to keep it maybe cooler for doggie. Okay, now for the POSSIBLE negatives. I don't anticipate them for my dog and me, because of her small size but I have seen a couple of them mentioned for other, larger dogs. Some have mentioned ripping out of seams or the fabric around where the strap buckles are attached to the vest. I don't think this is going to be a problem with a dog the weight of my dog or smaller or even larger up to a point but if you have a very large and heavy dog, it might be. I am so pleased with everything else so far that if I noticed some tears like that, I would figure out something to add some reinforcement to the strap connectors or seams. The straps themselves are very sturdy and it would take a lot of hard use to start them fraying enough to worry about them breaking, even with a heavy dog. The clips that attach the carry straps are plastic but heavy duty like you would see on camping or other heavy duty strapping devices. They are push together clips that snap into place just by pushing the strap end firmly into the female clip on the vest. To release them you have to push in on the sides of the strap clip where there are openings in the receptacle clip and that is a little harder to get undone, which again, I'm taking as a good thing as it makes the clipping mechanism feel even sturdier and less apt to slop apart even after a lot of wear. Again, my dog is about 23 pounds and I think they would be okay for a heavier dog up to a point but maybe not enough for a very heavy dog if you had to do much lifting . However, if all you need is a comfortable way to give your big dog a little assistance and support walking or going up and down stairs without needing to lift all four feet entirely off the ground, these attachments might work just fine for even a large dog and the way the vest itself is made and fits, gives a lot of stability too. And there are three sets of buckles on the vest so you can attach the carry/lead straps to any two of them that work best for your dog's shape and size. Last possible problem I see so far is not really a problem unless you ignore the warnings. This vest is nicely padded but IS one piece and does not just provide a strappy framwork with padded parts and open parts. It's like a coat with no sleeves and I can see how a dog could get easily overheated in hot weather or even mild weather. There are warnings about this on the ordering page but I'm not really sure if there are any on the item or package itself as I didn't really look at them and they are in a pile of packaging of other stuff in the order right now that I don't want to dig through atm. I'd say do NOT leave the dog alone while wearing this vest even if the dog likes being in it (Its the kind of thing apt to be as calming as the thunder vests are for some dogs. My Lizzie seemed to love being in it after she got over the initial anxiety of something new and a few practice lifts off the floor to see how that went and she was wagging her tail. But don't forget this could get too hot over time, even in comfortable air conditioned temperatures. But again two sides to that...if you live in a cold climate and lose your heat in winter, and the temp starts to go down drastically, this would be the first thing I would put on my dog to help keep her warm if the temperature starts to get near to freezing and still no heat. So that's it. Long review but I usually don't write any unless there is some bonus offered and I didn't see any for this. I tried to hit the items I was concerned about in ordering and especially the sizing. I am so glad that the sizing was spot on from the measurements and weight given, because I hate to have to return anything to anywhere. Also there weren't many reviews of the sizing for smaller dogs her size on this item, so I was very happy when it fit her like it was custom made for her. Hope this helps others decide. Depending on the dog and the dog parent, what you need the sling/harness/carrier for, the circumstances, this might not be the best choice for you and your dog, but maybe if some people cans see comparisons with their use and situation with mine it will help them know more about how this might work for their dog. I will be really mad at myself for spending all this time on this review if the vest starts falling apart in a short time or something but I don't think I'm going to be mad at myself at all for praising it. Have a good day, folks.
